Default Honda-Tech's Turbo Manifold Challange

I'm sure everyone is hoping this goes through.
I started this thread for the people that missed it.

Nothing beats a good old dyno shootout...

All we need to determine is the specs of the engine being dyno'd and its target output and turbo size, alcohol or gas etc etc.

I'll do up the appropriate manifold tubing size and will use my crossover design...

Also, we'll have to cordinate the exact times this takes place, as I would like to be there as I would assume ffgeoff would be, but this may not be possible...

As far as funding...Im am more then willing to split the costs associated...

About time we have some fun around here...this just gets me pumped!!

I would love for a dyno comparison to happen. More than likely we can get Norwood's Dyno to sponsor this comparison for a small fee. I ask that this comparison preferably occur on a vtec motor, althought a nonvtec would work. The Vtec will be more accurate, becuase i did my merge collector plenum calculations based on the flow of a vtec head with gsr cams.

i would like to put a pair of manifolds up for the challange..???and a pair of BAR/PLATE intercoolers...
i would also be willing to sponsor this event... Brand new Dynojet 248c at Trackmaster motorsports for independent studies...

Currently I am using the full-race manifold. I swapped it out w/ my old revhard stuff just last week. i changed too many things at once to really tell how much of a difference the manifold makes. as a swapped to a shorter geared tranny, larger plenum intake manifold, and geoffs manifold all the same time; I am only running the car @ .4bar currently and I plan on tuning it to .9bar in the next few weeks.

After I get #'s on the full-race I was planning on swapping to an inline pro/revhard mani just for geoff so he could have a real world comparison on a lightly modded street car. Although, I believe this is the type of mod that will not see huge gains on a mild hp car, but as the power increases, the amount of difference the mani makes should as well. thats why I bought it, I dont plan to be a 275hp car for ever.

SuperT- If u r willing to send me a manifold and coordinating downpipe I will be more then happy to do the test w/ ur mani as well. I have hondata so the a/f can be a constant in all three set ups. I also have trusty, well proven boost control/observation devises that will be reliable in making sure boost remains exactly the same in all 3 runs. Tial wastegate, turbo XS mbc, and greddy guages hopefully are good enough. The motor is a bone stock LS motor and the turbo kit is basically a revhard kit w/ full-race mani. lemme know.

You guys need a test car? I have nissan car to test on....stock block SR20 in the 400hp range. but i'm sure its not what the mani manufacturers need to test with.

I'll even throw in my own backyard weld el design. (not log). This will help the DIY'ers

The car is without manifold right now and i have full access to dyno facility.

i will donate a full day of my time any time or place and pay for a full day of dyno time at a brand new dyno facilty at TRACKMASTER motorsports and i will find a car to use as the test veichle. This is really RIDICULOUS... most people on H-T are followers, BANDWAGON hoppers who not only point fingers and try to ruin the reputation of the competiors products which is called ignorance. ,but also like to judge things without proven facts.
i am up for the challage and ready to not only learn and have a fun experensie. I am not going to critize someones product becasue it made 5 Hp more or less than the products that i carry. This has really gone too far. everyones prodcuts is here for the consumers to judge. you can explain your self to a point but you dont have to sit online 24/7 trying to change the minds of other people. IM READY MY PHONE NUMBER IS ON MY SIG READY WHEN YOU GUYS ARE..!!

when my car is done, i'm all over this. I'm in tucson, so i can easily get to SoCal easily, as can geoff...that is, if H series is included in this...just a mild tune H22a with a mid sized T3 turbo.

its a shame its like that for the most part though, HT has been really informative.

You gotta remember that price usually reflects quality. And sometimes, for street cars that are not ever going to run 11's etc, paying that bit more is not worth it. Thus it should be each to their own.

For me personally, having so many products to choose from is onyl going to make the consumer better of

I'm in Minot, ND and I know of one full race manifold in town. I run an SFP tubular manifold on my 328 whp untuned integra. If I can arrange it I will test both manifolds on my car on the dyno at our shop just for ***** and post the results. Because as it goes either way I really don't care so it would give me somethin to do for an afternoon.

I'm in the Dallas area and am having my motor built by Tony at Jotech right now (as soon as he gets a chance ). I'd be willing to do a test on the manifold. I have a Meng one on my car right now and would love to try out the full race one (especially if I could keep it ). I don't know when you guys wanted to do this because I probably won't have the motor ready and broken in untill the end of April or so. I'm also pretty close to Norwood's shop.

Yeah, Nick, The shocker was telling me there was a full race in ND...were in Minneapolis here. We should test that Full race v. the Super T and publish the results...As much as we all want this dyno shootout to take place, its probably never going to materialize as logistics are a nightmare...

We should find a neutral dyno tester and we can use your car...We'll also have to arrange witnesses and video tape the entire process from beginning to end to eliminate any tuning bias or parts bias...

See if you can get ahold of that full race...

We could use Elite in Minneapolis, or do you have a chassis dyno up there...

Lets see if we can get this rolling...

If a national dyno test does take place, Im game for that too...

Also, do me favor when you get that full race and measure the inner diameter of the tubing, that way I can make one up with my design using the same inner diameter tubing, that way we are comparing apples to apples..

Dave

Why not test more stuff that just a manifold? If you're gonna get this togeather anyway, why not test other stuff too.
