Honda Rod bearing question?
Engine is for LS b18b1.
I have a set of After market Scat rods. I am wanting to use OEM honda rod bearings. I know honda has them all color coded, i know the only way to know what exact bearing i need is to measure the rod and crank, but i dont have the tools to do it. So i need some input if you guys have use scat rods with oem honda bearings, what size/color did you use for the rod. (Again this is for a B18b1 LS crank/rods) Thanks in advance.

Re: Honda Rod bearing question?
not all rod journals on the crank are exactly the same, plastiguages are relatively cheap..don't cheap out on that, it'd be hell to spin a bearing on a fresh build. Do it right the first time, you'll want them to fit exactly for your application..

^ right, from what research I've done your going to need the crank your going to use and at the least plastigauges to see how much bearing you are going to need.

Ok, if your gonna use oem bearings you need to measure before you buy the bearings. If your going to use plastigauge, that means you already have the bearings and your just checking to make sure you have the correct clearance's.
Plastigauge is to check the clearance not to get measurements to buy bearings. Do some more research, but most likely your gonna go with clevite or ACL "one size fits all" bearings.

Re: Honda Rod bearing question?
My OEM bearings lasted 400 miles due to the eagle H beams having a cap switched around. New crank and redone rods and im using the cleavite "one size fits all" and they work well....so far. OEM=$$$$ my cleavites were $80
