Default Honda OEM oil filters... SMALLER!

For those of you that do not know, Honda has redesigned their oil filters. This time they are smaller and manufactured by Fram in Canada. The new design is supposed to increase oil pressure, but how large of a roll will it play for us turboguys pushing out good amounts of HP?

https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=1

There is a link to a thread discussing the issue about a month ago. I wonder if running the s2k filter would be better? The main reason I am concerned here is for the turbo's oil seals.

I was also interested in this. I went to get new filters a couple weeks ago to find that they were smaller. I don't know how much I like it though

I am interested as well. I had heard the S2000 filter will remain the same size.
I went ahead and bought the last 20 from a local dealership for $3.50 each.

I remember hearing Art talk about this, why would we want to raise our pressure if it's fine....bump

what i did.. a lill secret of mines is used a RSX oil filter on my b18b and it boosted up the oil pressure alot...

oh and high oil pressure is bad for turbo... i thought it would be ok so i did it but when i did it made oil come out of the seals. so not a good idea for turbo guyz just my .02

Just an idea Could we put some type restrictor in our oil feed to restrict some of the oil for a certain psi.

No, they are still OEM filters, but are smaller than the original filters that were being used.

fram vs. new U.S. filter:

15400-PT7-005 (made in Canada) - A little smaller in size and ligher than U.S.

15400-P0H-305 (made in U.S.) - This has been discontinued by Honda - and I can't think of a good reason they'd do something like that. I noticed cleaner oil and oil pressure seemed to stay higher with this one..

a comparison between the 2 - note how older U.S. filter is all metal

U.S. filter:

Canadian filter (came out a bit blurry but you get an idea.. comparison picture shows whats inside)

it has nothing to do with not filtering properly or changing it often, I am more worried about it collapsing and the motor staving for oil.

Wonderful, Fram and Canada...sounds like a quality filter

Haha JK. Got one a couple of weeks ago from the dealership. Only problem is I never got to drive my car with it.

Judging by the pics, the old design looks a lot nicer.

Those of you who still want the older US model Honda filter should stop buying OEM (we all know fram sucks, pictures prove it here). Filtech is the former manufacturer of the US made OEM filters. They are now under contract by Bosch to make their oil filters, and as such, is what I use. Autozone and many other places commonly sell these for 4 bucks each.

Oh and I knew and posted about the whole fram thing about a year ago.

I've been buying bosch filters for about 2 years now. Last time I had to buy mobile one though...everyone was out of the bosch! Mobile one filters are just too expensive, about 10 bucks a pop.
