Default homemade turbo pipes!!

i plan on using a 300zx turob thats runs 5.5psi stock..thats all i need now.
im probly gonna use 2" charge pipes which will run into my aem cai for the final charge pipe..my question is..since most of my charge pipes will be 2" what happens when the boost flows through my aem cai...which is wider...will the boost be lowered cuz of the larger piping in that section??

Now boost will not be lowered. I think the AEM is 2.5" which should be ok.

well how big is your cai? theoretically pressure drop will occur when going from a small diameter to a bigger one. Perhaps it wont be noticable, but there has to be some change going on there

The pressure will only be lowered if the port on your wastegate is hooked up prior to the CAI. If you hook it up on that pipe, it will spool until the boost is 5.5 in that section.

Yup, If you have it hooked up on your intake manifold (like most) than it will be spooling till it reaches 5.5 at the Intake manifold (there still may be some pressure drop when it hits the CAI but it will still be 5.5 at the throttlebody. Hope this helps.

Correct. I don't know why people are even mentioning pressure drop. A drop in pressure will only be caused by a restriction placed in a given system. Since you are going from small diameter to large than there is no added restriction. The only drawback is that the increasing pipe diameter poses more volume, therefore it will take longer to fill the system (ie. lag). Will it be noticable...don't know.

you really wont even know the difference, when changing piping sizes to a bigger size, like my man said before you do have increaced volume, wich would cause alittle more lag, but nothing noticeable. the only real disavantage is that you are loosing your velocity charge, which for most cases isnt that big of deal, unless you were trying to extract the most out of your turbo setup.
