HOLY SHEOT !! 11 psi intercooled JRSC.
http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/...5271&members=1
ok guys. heres the deal. i finished the install of the air to liquid intercooler about a week ago. the car was running pretty damn good.it felt alot quicker on the high end mostly.
the low end still felt quicker than before.i was pretty satisfied with the result of everything. i actually wanted some hard proof results though, so i took the car to the track last night,FRIDAY. first off, before i went to the track, i raised the timing a bit to 18 degrees and it felt alot stronger in 4th and 5th at low rpms. i ran the car 4 times.
heres the results(also keep in mind im at 8 psi intercooled, i used to be 12 psi non intercooled, but the core was blocking some psi flow now.... aprox 3 psi lost.)
12.9 @ 106
13.2 @ 108
13.1 @ 104
13.0 @ 107
i was pretty disappointed with my times, due to the fact i was hitting 12.4's @ 111 mph before @ 12 psi non intercooled.
i knew that since i went from 12 psi to 8 psi, the fuel and timing setting needed to be adjusted, but its hard to tune it perfectly, especially with the intercooler.so i still had the CRV pulley from awhile ago in my garage. THIS IS WHERE IT GETS EXCITING!!!
i installed the pulley originally awhile ago, but removed it after 3 runs due to the fact ofthe following:
1. the car was real fast in 1st gear, but died off alot in 2nd and up.
2. the belt would slip off due to placement of the pulleys.
3. the engine was just plain getting too hot!!!
so, after coming home last night, i decided to go ahead and reinstall the 16 pound pulley and test it out with the air to liquid intercooler.
heres what i did :
1. installed the 16 psi(CRV pulley), which is 11 psi with the intercooler.
2. lowered the timing to approx 12 degrees.
3. upped the sensitivity on the J & S a litte.
i figure let me test it and see if it runs better, what do i have to lose.......
HOLY ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the ******* car is CRAZY *** FAST!!!!!!
IVE NEVER FELT POWER LIKE THIS BEFORE!!!!
the car now is absolutely "SICK".... this thing pulls like if the front wheels are coming off the ground.
my brakes can not handle the power anymore.
the car runs absolutely awesome. i cannot believe it!!!!
the belts do not slip either, i guess the new pulley layout i have since installing the intercooler keeps the belts tighter or something.
im positive the car will hit 11's with no problem now!!!!
by the way, the boost is pegging out now at 11 psi, thats with the core of the intercooler blocking air flow.
all i have to say is, the track won the battle last night, but ill be back for revenge next week to win the war.
im still mind boggled at the amount of power this thing has now!!!
WOW.

Take it down to SFP and put it on the dyno. Good job! I wouldn't even have attempted any of that on my motor. I need a rebuild, wanna help? I dunno if I am keeping the charger or selling it.

I can't wait to hear next week's results!
So you have a CRV crank pulley and a stepper pulley? I forget if your engine is built. I think it is.

I'm only going to warn you, but congrats on the setup before I do that. You are spinning the supercharger at insane speeds, and I would be careful with it. You have the possibility of running into rotor collision, which will wreck your supercharger and the cooler as well. But let's see some times out of it first.

HOLDEN, VAPORTRAIL, good to hear from you guys. havn't heard from you guys in awhile.
yeah, i was pretty disappointed with the times. i knew the boost pressure is what the problem was, but hey, ive got both pulleys on now(stepper and CRV), and its hitting 11 psi with the intercooler. i want to dyno this bad boy soo bad before it blows. just kidding. im pretty sure its not gonna blow. the car is running awesome
if i hear something thats not right, ill know. and so far ive made about 5-6 wide open runs with it and its fine. my only concern was the blower seal, i dont want it to leak. the blower speeds is not a concern to me. if you guys could feel the power its producing, you would be amazed. it feels faster than a motorcycle.
ill keep yall updated!!

what is your exact location ? Do you have any crudentials ? J/K
how much is "cheap dyno time " ?

In my configuration, I use a Unorthodox pulley (the same but lighweight as the CRV) and the Endyn steeper pulley and only have 10.5 psi. The psi depend a lot of cams and level.

Re: HOLY SHEOT !! 11 psi intercooled JRSC. (SCHYBRID)
btw, its a stock motor with over 130,000 miles.
heres my setup :
JRSC 11 psi liquid intercooled ( spearco core)
type r exhaust cam
kami headers + 3" down pipe 3" exhaust.
mild ported head, just to redo seals, etc.
ported S-tube
Holley throttlebody
solid 3" intake tube. " no reducers below 3"
V-AFC
J&S safeguard
2 del sol radiators
clutchmasters stage 4 clutch
lots of long nights, cuts, back aches, no sleep, no money
but hey, its all worth it for the feeling i get driving the car....

Re: HOLY SHEOT !! 11 psi intercooled JRSC. (SEFI8LOxCivic)
I have done alot of high boosting the Eaten superchargers. After breaking, cracking and chipping the rotors on a few I found out not to run then past 15,000 RPM The stockblower has a 0.004 tolerance at 5000 RPMs at 14,000 it's around 0.002 remember, boost is a build up of air the engine can't ingest . Good luck with the set up! I didn't see the pics of the intercooler , but sounnds like it was a lot of work making it fit.

Re: HOLY SHEOT !! 11 psi intercooled JRSC. (CRVRX)
how much rpm am i looking at with 16 psi ?
oh, the water for the intercooler does not heat up at all, its constantly cooled thru the del sol radiator specifically for the intercooler itself.
the intercooler has the following:
SPEARCO core, del sol radiator with slim line fan ( to clear headers), Jabsco water pump, 1/2 gallon reservoir for ice, seperate fan and water pump switch, and all 5/8" hoses and connector, fittings etc. (10% coolant, 90% water),possibly planning on adding Redline water and wetter, plan on adding 2-3 gallon ice water tank inside car on passenger floorboard(enuff to hold 3 bags of ice).

Re: HOLY SHEOT !! 11 psi intercooled JRSC. (dariusz)
I have a Lightened Unorthodox Racing Pulley for my 97 GSR. I have the JRSC sitting in the garage. I will be installing it next month. Can I get away with using it or should I get a CRV crank pulley? My car has 63,000 miles on it.

heres some updated photos of my "new reservoir"!!!!
can you say " holds 3 bags of ice"
lets all sing along " i see 11's, you see 11's, we all see 11's, dooo da day!!!!! J/K
this new reservoir sits on my passengers floorboard and holds 3 bags of ice...
holy **** again!!!!!!
now its even faster with the ice water running thru it.
i made 5 full WOT runs and the intake manifold wasnt even warm!!!!
this thing is sick now!!!!!
the intercooler stays ICE *** COLD!!!!
man, the larger cooler holds soo much more ice, it doesnt melt as fast.
my radiator up front was also ice cold.
ill post some pics of the water lines that had " condensation on them from the ice water

Re: HOLY SHEOT !! 11 psi intercooled JRSC.
that is awesome man! i was wondering where you disappeared to! The big problem with Eaton Blowers is heat. The rotors spin fast and heat up, they heat up and expand blowing their epoxy coating off which is sucked into the engine, then the expanded rotors chew up the s/c casing and those metal shavings are also sucked into the engine. However, seeing that heat is not a problem anymore... I dont think you will have any problems with running it as is. its awesome what you've done... and if you hadnt done it, it woulda only been a matter of time before i make my own. thats interesting about the loss in boost pressure cuz my friend and i were talking about it and we didnt think there would be much of a loss, if any, but you have enlightened me on that. if you get a chance, fill me in more about your project. And get some times from that summabitch!

Sounds badass. These Roots type chargers really get hot once you upgrade the pullies
How can i calculate how many RPM my supercharger is running? Whats the formula? I know its not a Honda but the formulas should be the same...

Re: HOLY SHEOT !! 11 psi intercooled JRSC (5speedv6)
To figure how many RPMs one pulley on a belt is spinning compared to another pulley on the same belt you need to know the diameters of the 2 pulleys and the RPM's of one of the pulleys. Then use this equation
(pulley 1 diameter) x (pulley 1 rpm) / (pulley 2 diameter) = pulley 2 rpm
To get the RPM of the charger you need to use that formula starting from the crank pulley and work you way to the charger pulley (crank pulley - alternator - chrager)
(pulley 1 diameter) x (pulley 1 rpm) / (pulley 2 diameter) = pulley 2 rpm
To get the RPM of the charger you need to use that formula starting from the crank pulley and work you way to the charger pulley (crank pulley - alternator - chrager)
