Default Holset H1D any good for my B16?

Hey guys,

Am trying to find out if this turbo is worth purchasing.

I've had a quick search around but most the info i can find relates to the HX35's or 40's.

I'd love a HX35 but as i'm based in the UK shipping is very expensive.

A chap local has a H1D for sale reasonable and i wondered how efficient it would be on a semi built b16.

I'm running a cheapo t3/t4 thats holding up quite well at the mo but can't hide it under the bonnet forever!

Thanks

Dan

I say the HX35 is perfect. A few people are selling them cheap http://turbobyholset.com/forum/for-s...et-h1e-turbos/

I have the HX35 with a 12cm^2 housing, and I would like to add, it's pretty laggy on the b16 for a daily driver. I miss the quick spool of my T3/T04E 57 trim and have considering buying another until the car is strictly drag. In contrast, the laggy spool time helps with traction A LOT and makes more hp per psi

I'd say try it, A holset is an amazing turbo for the price. Aggressive blades and whatnot, every time I've swapped one out for a garrett I was not disappointed. I would say it would probably spool late, but with the b16 tranny the way it is, I'm sure once it winds out it gets nasty. If you could run one for a daily driver, it would be perfect imho. I'd look into Ectune, with it's full throttle shifting and antilag, it would build boost in between shifts and make it a Dr.Jekyl/MR.Hyde combo. Great for daily driving and nasty when boosting at full throttle.

Thanks for the replies,

I went and bought it, just waiting for it to arrive.

It's brand new and i paid £125 UK for it which i think its pretty cheap!

Think it's slightly smaller than the t3/t4 i'm running at the mo but a lot better quality.

The only problem is that it's a 4 bolt circluar type for the downpipe and my current one is a 5 bolt design.

Are all these Holset's internally wastegated? Read somewhere about welding it shut in order to run my tial one?

Will upload some pics when i finish work.

lol what the Hams Hall ring?! Your's a H22 Civic then?

Well i bought the Holset H1D, found it really hard to find info and was told it's prob a chinese knockoff! I've done the checks as per Holsets website and i'm still none the wiser!

I'm gonna measure the specs later and post them up and see if anyone can help.
