HKS Blow off valve, C CLIP = pain in the ***
I've been running my car for over 7 months with a TAPED on/Zip Tied Blow off valve. Works great, but it's kinda ugly. 7 months ago when I put the turbo into the car, I couldn't get the c clip/snap ring into the groove. I broke 5 snap ring tools. Anyways, how the heck do i get that thing in?
oh yeah, i also BROKE the c clip itself. I've tried looking everywhere for the darn thing at the auto stores, no luck! the biggest they have is like 1 1/5 inch diameter

Did you have the circlip in upside down?? the clip only goes in one way. Its wedge shaped on the edge.

i had a smiliar problem, my BOV broke off at an auto cross, and i couldn't get another c-clip, so i drilled and put put 3 small screws exactly 120 degrees apart, with an o-ring. i haven't had any problems since then

What kind of screws? And how did you drill it. From the top or from the sides of the flange? Wouldn't it leak air when under boost?

I had the same problem. I went 6 months with a strap around it and broke two snap ring tools. What I did was to grind the tapered side down a little to get it to fit. I made a tool out of a pair of needle noise pliers bent the tip in a vise into a L shape. It been on about 3 months with no problems.

i can't think of the exact name of the screws i used, but they are short aluminum screws, so if the bov breaks off again it won't break the intake piping, i made marks 120 degrees apart on the bov and flange. and then i drilled from the bottom up on the BOV. i took the shiny case off so i could put the screws through. the flange that is on the intake piping, i marked and drilled the holes straight down, on the underside of the flange i ground down the surface (only where the screws will be) so that i could mount nuts on a flush surface. i put glue on the nuts so they won't come off. i am running 6 psi right now and it doesn't leak at all, i pressure tested to 15 pounds (with water) and it didn't leak. i used a slightly oversized O-ring to make sure it wouldn't leak.

*stating the obvious* - just buy a C-clip tool. Sears sells it for like 15 bucks (craftsman ) ...sure you'll only use it once or twice, but it'll save you the headache.
