Default High Volume fuel tank pick-up (filter sock question)

Q To anyone here who is currently or has run a high flow fuel system with SS braid or larger feed/return lines.
When replacing the in-tank fuel pump with a solid pickup tube did you ommit the oem filter sock or adapt the sock to the pickup tube?

I'm not 100% sure if the oem filter sock would be a restriction let alone if I can even get it solidly mounted to the 5/8" pickup tube. My alternative plan is running an inline filter before the pump if need be. What have you other guys done in similar situations???? Thanks

Fuel system rundown:
10AN tank to aeromotive inline pump
8AN pump to rail to fpr
6AN fpr to tank return

**I'm trying to stay away from using a rear sump fuel pickup or fuel cell if possible.**

True but the sock is usually attached to the pump and the Walbros are in-tank fuel pumps.
The only part under the top fuel tank cover on my set up is a 5/8" supply tube.

I don't think the sock itself would be a restriction....that thing has about an inch and a half or two inch diameter and I think fuel will be coming through it now matter what pump you have. The thing is to get it to fit on the 5/8" fitting you have.
