high egt temp!!!!! 1725-1750F
today when i was getting on it and in 4th gear my EGT temps went up to about 1725-1750 (950C) and i hurry up let off... anyone know what kind of damage this will do to the motor if it already didnt do any damage? i am tuned on a hondata 2b and the car been running weird lately and normally it doesnt go past 1600-1650... i know i should get it retuned soon after i change out a few parts... do anyone have anything to say about this? i'm just kinda worried about this, egt probe is about 1 inch away from the 3rd runner. running 10 lbs of boost

is that setup tuned? you might need to add more fuel or advance the timing in that RPM range ro keep the EGT's down.

out of curiosity, how does advancing the timing reduce the temp

advancing the timing can also help with egts cause there may be some fuel that is not being burned fully in the combustion chamber. thus resuslting in it burning in the exhaust wich raises egt's.
1700 is high, but ive seen higher, it needs some attention but dont forget that your in fourth and that, although not like 5th, is higher strain on the motor. especially if your going up a hill.

Advancing timing fires the spark plug earlier, and combustion finishes earlier, so the exhaust has more time to cool before coming out the exhaust valves. Advanced timing = cooler EGTs. It does not mean that the temps in the combustion chamber are cooler, however.
