HELP! TURBO NOT SPINNING
hey guys. i have a big problem obviously. this morning i stalled while reversing out of my house, and while i was driving to work the car wasn't spooling. i thought maybe i blew off one of my ic pipes again since i did it once a few weeks ago. i got to work (i work less than 5 minutes away from my house 2-3miles) and i checked everything, looks cool. but i didn't think to look at the turbo.
around 1pm i went out with my car and same thing, no spool or anything. so i got home and i popped the hood to see, no spin on the compressor side. i turned off the car, took off the net and tried to spin it clockwise. it was locked like something was holding it. i spin counter clockwise and it's ok. i try to spin it clockwise again, and it's coo now. i start the car, no spin. i turn it off, try to spin it clockwise again, locked. now counter clockwise and it's coo both ways like before. so i called my cousin and he said maybe the shaft is broken? he told me to take off the downpipe and see if both sides spin together.
i wait a while for the dp to cool down along with the turbo and then i take it off. the wheel is stuck a lot harder on the exhaust side than the compressor side. so i go counter clockwise to loosen the lock and then it goes clockwise ok now, just like the compressor. both sides spin together.
NOW, i have no idea what's wrong? i just changed out my feed brass T yesterday cause it was leaking. and i resealed my gasket on the oil pan too. but i would doubt that has anything to do with this? i checked the oil, it's near the top dot. i disconnected the distributer(sp?) and cranked it a few times to get some oil going through the feed, but it didn't help to spin it. what could be wrong? oil stravation before or what? it was fine this morning at 3am when i drove home from my gf's place and then at 8am this occured.
any help would be nice. thanks in advance guys. i've had this turbo setup running less than a month now. and the turbo has around 1k on it. probably less. i got it with no shaft play and now it has a little.

Normal bearing? ball-bearing? brand etc of turbo?
I'm not the guy to help (even though it sounds like bearing is going).... but i know more info never hurts.

i sold my ssac turbo for 250 on a local forum and the seals blew within a month on the guy. i guess it would've been the same thing huh? hahahaha
is it ok for me to drive my car with the turbo not spinning? it's not leaking oil or anything.

Re: (tRaCeBuStA)
should've kept that sc61 . i'm sure you could find another brand new t3/t4 turbo around here for around $450-500 from a reputable brand.

^^^ man i don't know that guy ^^^ LOL
for the setup i have...i'm thinking just around 300-350hp. i plan on changing in a year or two. so i think i'm just gonna go with a t3/to4e .63a/r with a .57trim. i know b18bturbo has a deal on one for 535shipped. so i'm considering that.
i would've liked to keep the sc61 i had. but that thing had major shaft play. lol the fins were hitting the housing! i was thinking about a t3/60-1 but that might be too big for my stock block. i need a streetable turbo.
trace...i'll be in cali next summmer...i'll look at for you! lol look for me around stockton and fresno

Re: (LiTtOGPiMp)
yea get that get that.. wonder who that honda-sport fellow is.. sheesh. what a weirdo.. maybe i'll go with you to nor cal too yee.. now you guys are talking big numbers.. 350 whp.. gosh.. im probaly only pushin 230-240 on my z6 hmm.. its okay. my ef is pretty light and pretty gutted.. so i should give you guys a good fight..
back to topic, i think you should stick with the t3/to4e .63a/r with a .57trim turbo. that should spool up nicely.. but... also dont underestimate larger turbo's i thought the huge 18g wouldn't spool worth **** on my last single, but it got full boost right around 3800... make the right decision for now and for the future
