Ok we installed a quaife LSD in a B16A tranny all new bearings go for a drive acels fine all gears but on deceleration there is a light tuck tuck tuck noise.

well, the quaife is sealed, so you dosnt have an oiling problem.

I never did the "figure 8" break in with mine, and I never had any issues...

Did you measure & get the correct clearance diff shim, or did you just drop it in with the stock shim? Perhaps the diff moves axially on deceleration, _just_ hitting something on the secundary shaft...?

Otherwise it may be in the diff itself- I've read some other reports about the diff being noisy on decelerating (here's a thread you may find interesting: http://www.hostboard.com/cgi-b...11970).

My Quaife's still running great btw, no noises yet.

Mark.

Maybe the bearings didn't get pressed on squarely.

Im thinking that the diff shimms are not proper thickness and the diff is moving side to side on decel.?

I dunno hard to say cause the car shifts fine and runs fine

Did you nick the speedo drive gear when you were taking it off the other diff? That will make the same noise, I've had it happen before.

Nope we tried that its starting to get quieter i think its cause we changed the ring gear and it needs to be worn in.

My car also has a quaife diff and clunks when corning on the gas, even just a little bit of gas, straight its fine, left and right fine out of gear or with the clutch on is fine and even clutch off in gear at idle rpm, but on the gas and turning it sounds like its going to blow apart, reverse is even fine on or off the gas, i already changed my motor mounts and axels, anyone know if this is the quaife diff?

Zombie thread! Diff is installed wrong or it's damaged. Change it before you blow it up
