Default Help with new hondata'd p28...

I'm posting this for a friend, he does not have an account here. Here goes:

I just finished my engine swap from my 92 prelude Si's H23A1 to a 98 H22A4 engine, and i was intending to run it off a P28 ECU with Hondata's stage 2 system. The car started up fine the second time i turned the key. the problem is that the CEL is always on, ever since the first time i cranked it. When i try to retrieve the odes the light just stays on solid, no flashing codes or anything. So in order to see if it was an issue with the ECU or the car i switched ECU's back to the P14 off the H23A1 and it runs perfectly no check engine light or anything. my personal oppinion is that when installing the ROM in the ECU the dealer may have accidentally burned another part of the ECU and caused a problem that makes it operate on the backup processor, or maybe even the ROM is installed wrong, i dunno. anyway the ECU is going back to the dealer tomorrow to see if they can figure anything out, until then i have no VTEC so any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

if you have no vtec and a really low rev limit, then you're in limp-home mode. What is the LED on the hondata interface box doing?

if you don't have the hondata interface box hooked up that could explain this activity as well.

the LED on the interface box was staing on solid, no flashing. so it was hooked up. i know a few people who say that their hondata systes are working the same way, but they accept it as normal behavior because everything else works. im not willing to settle for always having a CEL though, part of the features i bought was the shift light also i will never know when the engine throws a real code if this is normal.

Give Doug a call at Hondata. The phone number is on their homepage. They have great customer service, I'm sure he can get you fixed right up.

Ok i sent the ECU back to the hondata dealer i bought it from so they could look over it. They said they took the cover off to visually inspect the ECU and did so with Doug on the phone to advise them on any extra thins to look for. They found nothing unusual and even said they plugged my ECU into a Del Sol and it ran fine with no codes. Doug says he doesn't know what causes this but he is going to go over the wiring for the cars involved to see if he can figure anyting out, but until then im stuck with a CEL on 24/7. Is this a problem only preludes have? it looks like there is nothing wrong with the ECU so what is it?
