Help needed on new turbo for built GSR
I am in the market for a new turbo and a friend has one that he wants to sell me
Its a Garrett 60-1, he says he thinks the hot side is .63? and is sure the cold side is .70
He says its a 360 thrust bearing turbo t3 flanged.
I was wondering if this will work alright with decent spool time hopefully before or around 5k
My setup is
Stock gsr head [Thinking about going ctr or itr cams]
SPA top mount [replacing my revhard cast and T04e turbo]
Tial 38mm
JE SRP 81mm pistons
Eagle H beams
ARP Headstuds
3" DP - 3" strait pipe to 6" can dumping out right past the shifter tucked in the center tunnel - Might replace this with 3" cat back
Precision 880cc or 1000cc not sure which replacing my dsm blue tops
I've got a high low electronic boost controller and am wanting to set it to 8/16 psi and am wanting about 400hp on high boost using 93 octane.
Thanks for your time,
DK

Re: (Schister66)
are you saying I need something bigger? or that its just a crappy turbo, or slow spool time? I really cant afford a gt 30 like I'd like. Is it going to be better than my to4e?

Man U FTW
I'd actually suggest a 57trim. It will make all the power you need and still have more to give, plus it spools faster than the 60-1. Having said that, dont take it as the 60-1 is a bad turbo...it will get you to your power goals, but its probably a little big.

hum, well I have a to4e 57 trim right now, I was wanting something that would produce 400-500hp and still be efficient. 4 being on pump and 5 on race gas. I would also like to have something big enough for when I sleeve it and go 84mm.
So are you saying I wont spool till 6-7k or something?

Re: (crowder13)
thanks for your response, I really cant afford a bb turbo right now I just spent too much money on my engine build.
I just wonder what around what rpm I'm going to spool it though.

The 57 trim or maybe a 60trim will do you just well. For your goal I believe the 57 trim can make (400-450hp) depending on your setup.Spools up pretty fast as well.Synapse has a dyno graph of there 57 trim on a stock b16 producing 451hp I believe.

I bought it, 60-1 w tial 38mm for 474$ shipped. I couldn't pass this deal up.
I can't wait to top mount this chit,
I know my 57 trim would probably work just fine, but I sold my turbo setup to my lil brother today so I can replace it all with better stuff.
I heard this turbo can produce 16-18hp per lb.
I mainly bought this turbo so I wont have to upgrade it when I go 84mm sleeves.
I let you all know how it works out.
Thanks again.

on my old bottom end (2.0l), my 60-1 spooled around 4-4500 on 10-15 lbs and felt awsome so ull be happy. i would say it would have the same characteristics as 1.8l
