well, ok not really with my turbo, but with turbo related stuff.

First off, im going through fuel like a mother (140 miles to my last tank, only boosting hard once or twice) my fuel pump is ALWAYS on, and boy is that thing loud. when i am in full boost, im rich (i think this is good) but typically i am on the richer side of things, never lean when im in vac. thirdly, i can smell the smell of fuel in my exhaust, i backfire alot when i let off the gas, this tells me i am rich also i believe. thirdly my shiney thermal is COATED in this black thick film that even goes as far to stain up my bumper! (good thing i have a black car) i dont think its an oil problem, my exhaust smells like fuel, not burning oil. and finally when i boost hard, i can see the smoke in my rear view, its just pouring out. ive had the turbo for like 500 miles, i dont think its my seals, its not a white smoke, its just exhaust and it is very visable. what do i do! do i have my fuel pump set up wrong? do i need a VAFC? can SOMEONE SAVE ME, i cant afford this 12 MPG crap, i expected a loss in MPG, but this is insane

what's your fuel pressure setting? What is your complete fuel system setup? What ECU are you using? What turbo setup and boost level? Atleast answer the 1st three and you should be able to get some replies.. Dee

Listen, U need to go get a 6:1 FMU disc for your regulator. Your 12:1 is way too high. Try that, and your car should run much better.

You do not want 6:1 w/ stock injectors. You will lean out.

Sounds like your Vortech FMU is stuck, I say take it apart and make sure the cylinder slides freely.

ok guys.....im running 310 injectors, VORTECH FMU, airtex inline fuel pump, no cat etc etc. do you guys think its my vortech?

Tim, it's the 310s + 12:1 FMU. You'll need to go down to 8:1 or use a fuel controller to take away fuel for your low boost.

Damn bro, 310's + 12:1 = RICH. Definitely get a smaller ratio disc for that FMU.

Im getting like 21mpg when I used to get 26-29mpg. Is this just a normal drop due to the vortech fmu and fuel pump or do you think my fuel pressure is too high? I havent gotten a fuel pressure gauge yet. Im runnning stock injectors right now.

yeah those 310s are killing you. You need to drop the static and idle fuel pressures, or get a VAFC. And you will also need to lower your rise rate.

Are you getting on it a lot? When you drive normally do you get into boost all the time. Because really there shouldnt be much of a decrease at all unless you are raising the fuel pressures, and that should only be happening when the FMU sees positive pressure.

so how would i go about lowering my idle and static pressure? im gonna get the 8:1 disc, ben seems to think this will solve my problem. I thought the 310 injectors would HELP me? do they help performance wise?

Running the airtex fuel pump...i've noticed even when I dont boost that my gas mileage is down.

iff all you do is throw in some 310 injectors and dont alter anything at ile you will be running rich. Hence the reason your always showing way on th rich side, even when youre not on the gas. Having the 12:1 rise rate will make it even worse when you are boosting.

Ok guys, I think its my FMU, i think its getting stuck open? today it was running much leaner, not half as rich when in vac. and when i boosted it would actually "SNAP" into rich, like it would hesitate almost. i think the cylinder is getting stuck in the FMU. any one have any thoughts? Is it normal to just SNAP into rich, when the boost comes on, doesnt boost come on gradually? this was like a POWER SURGE. maybe this is how boost SHOULD feel?
