Help me pick my Precision Turbo
My setup:
b16a (Stock)
Rev Hard Turbular non-AC Manifold
Rev Hard Intercooler 32x8x3.5
Tial 35mm
2.5" downpipe, testpipe, and catback.
Rc 440's
Hondata
My Goal for now is 275-280whp.
My Goal after the sleeves, rods, pistons is 375whp.
What turbo will suit me best now and later.
The Turbo I have now is next to the Red Arrow in the picture.
Rod at precision said it's good for 380whp. But is willing to swap what ever turbo I want from this list.
Or I stick with what I have.
Thanks guys.

Re: Help me pick my Precision Turbo (RyanAutry)
the sc50 is a great turbo. especially if its a daily driver. you can go wrong with it other than that if you decide you want 450-500 hp youll need to buy another turbo again.I would go with the .63 if i were you. the .48 rips tires badly.

It will make 380 with a .48 but its going to build boost way too fast for the street. my opinion is the .63.

I really like the SC44 w/ .63ar. its a 6 blade 60trim wheel so its really efficient and should flow a good bit more air then the 50trim. the .63ar will help u support ur final horsepower goal better too. .63ar isnt laggy at all.
good luck.

... but, what sc-series turbo would you guys recommend for a semi-built gsr (je pistons, eagle rods, stock sleeves)?... goals are 300-350 hp, quick spool, decent top end, and high efficiency... lemme know... thanks...

I actually have that SAME turbo for sale... except its ball bearing and has a polished compressor housing. im asking 750 +shipping for it. it has no shaft play whatsoever and has been taken very good care of with only 2000 miles on it. Spool up on this turbo is really fast, trust me you'll love it. The only reason im selling it is because im going with a t4 monster ***** turbo. t04e 50comp trim .48ar t3 housing. turbonetics told me it was good for 400hp.

Re: Help me pick my Precision Turbo (GudeH23a)
Rev Hard said they would swap the .48 with the .63 if I don't likw it.
Should I try the .48 first?

If they will take it back used go for it. But I doubt if you don’t like the .48 and get the 63 and still don’t like it they will give you back a .48.

Re: Help me pick my Precision Turbo (GudeH23a)
i have a hard time understanding the part #s they have also. Try giving Rod a call, i called him and he took the time to answer all my questions and to try and make a turbo that will do what i need it to do.

Re: Help me pick my Precision Turbo (BudaKai)
Folks,
Remeber that the horsepower figures for these turbos is figured (rather conservatively) at the crank. Deduct about 15% of that for frictional horsepower losses through the drivetrain.
I also agree that a .48 A?R ratio is too quick for most. Great for stoplight to stoplight racing, yes, but with that comes potential traction problems and a lack of topend power.
There are a number of other options. You can go with either a 4 or 5-bolt turbine housing (T-31 high flow with a T3 flange) or with a T04E or T04S compressor cover. The T04E might fit in some engine bays better, but the T04S reportedly flows 10% better. We probably need to do a dyno test on these things some day.
Feel free to give me a call anytime if I can answer any questions anytime M-F 8 to 5 Central Standard Time.

rod ~
... can you do us a favor and give some max hp figures for the sc-series turbos?... for example:
sc50 - 380 hp
sc32 - 400 hp
sc34 - 420 hp
sc44 - ...
sc60 - ...
sc51 - ...
sc52 - ...
sc53 - ...
sc54 - ...
sc61 - ... etc
... i think something like this would be helpful to everyone since most of the compressor maps arent available...
thanks...

Re: Help me pick my Precision Turbo (Arturbo)
When would say, .45bar be hit on a gsr(roughly, 3" exh, 2.5"dp) fir these 4, and would they be dissapointing at that boost level? How much block shaving too, with maxrev mani/dp? dont want to take away from your thread, sorry.
