Help me with my slow spool! Turbo-LS
Fab Works Log Manifold
3" DP w/ 3" Kteller exhaust
Garrett T3/T4 57Trim .48a/r
JRC 6" w/ 2.5" SPoolin IC pipes
Greddy Type S
Tial 38mm
DSM 450cc
Hondata S200b
Hallman MBC
Just got it back from the tuner. Made 253whp/222wtq at 8psi, which i'm extremely happy with!! BIG to Corey at Slowmotion in Columbus, Ohio. However, i have an extremely late spool compared to others i've seen. Spool is around 5200rpms. No charge pipe leaks, i have a golden eagle vacuum manifold for all vacuum sources. One thing though, I have a tial w/ open dumptube, is there supposed to be a little exhaust coming out of there at idle? Even when i'm extremely light on the throttle i can hear the exhaust from the dumptube.

Am i missing the valve seat?? Anyone have a pic of their 38mm from this angle?
There is a little exhaust coming from around the bottom of the stem at idle, and i can hear it on very light throttle.

The best way to fix spool with a 253whp 57trim is to ditch that turbo and get something closer to a s-trim t04b compressor or a 60trim t3 compressor with a 2.5 or 3 bar MAP.
The fire ring is a 1/8" thick ring with a bevel inside one of the sides, that essentially becomes the valve seat.

Re: (BDogggUT34)
You take the WG off, put it directly under th valve (bevled side touches valve), and bolt it back up. It will slightly preload the spring, but thats to couteract the manifold pressure pushing the WG open slightly early. Just think of it as a washer you're putting between the WG valve and the manifold's WG flange.

They come with them new, and are required for proper operation.
Perhaps he bought it used and was not given one.

I bought it used and didnt know to look for it. Its my fault. Next question is, once i get this and get a quicker spool, does this change my tune??

my ls used to spool 10 psi at 3500rpms with a 57trim .48 exhaust. i was very happy with the response on it
you are missing the the fire ring

Thats what i was expecting, more like 4000rpms at least. Anyone know, will the tuner have to retune the car since it will spool like 800-1000 rpms sooner????

Yea that sucks..gotta go retune..Or if you have access to a wideband you could check the afrs during a run to see if it needs a retune.
