Help me figure something out! (oil cooler)
Its a B&M oil cooler (11x5.75x1.5). Is that big enough?
How exactly does it hook up? What does it connect to? the line going into the turbo?
from what im told. I need a two "1/2 to 1/8 npt" fittings, two "1/8 npt to -4 an" fittings and two feet of -4 an line.
Is the correct?
Now here is my total noob question. Will the new oil cooler work with my stock itr cooler, and how exactly will the car benefit with the new cooler?
Will the car run cooler and not over heat?
Thank you in advanced,
Jordo

The size of cooler you got there is plenty big enough. IMO you don't really need it unless you do track days where the oil temp will sky rocket without a cooler. You normally have a sandwich adapter that goes between the block and the oil filter. From there the oil flows into the adapter to a thermostat (if you got one and plan on using it), then to the core, and out via the core back into the block. I wouldn't fit one without a thermostat. I'm having a Mocal cooler and thermostat fitted as we speak.

it does absolutely nothing to prevent overheating , it jsut keeps the oil from getting too hot and breaking down as quickly.

If you're not actually running the car on a road course it's definetly NOT worth it IMO. The stock oil cooler works very well and keeps the oil temp at reasonable temps.(~180F cruising) It's nice as well because it brings the oil quickly upto operating temps.
I do have a Moroso pan w/ a system that holds 6 quarts, so that might help keep things a little cooler as well... I would say install a bung in your pan and run a gauge and see how hot the oil is actually getting. If you really want it cooler then install an oil cooler.

I would recommend getting an oil temp (and while you are at it an oil pressure) guage in your car first. That will give you an idea of what kind of temperatures your oil is getting to on the street. I dont know if you still have intentions of autoxing the car now that its turboed, but the oil cooler wont have enough air passing over it to do its job. But it will likely keep your oil temps down on the street if you are boosting and on the road course if you ever go that route. While you are looking at it, i would recommend a Mocal cooler, a thermostat bypass valve and maybe even a filter relocation setup. Check this link out http://www.sportauto.cc/Oil-Co...t.htm
