Default Alright Check this out....Thoughts?

Ok was at importbuilders yesterday had the car tuned to 14.7psi/1BAR and made 265whp with 197ft/lb. These numbers are on a stock bore b16 (81mm) with a 9.8:1 c/r. Other than that here is what i'm running:
Drag 3
550 injectors
2.5 turbo back (dp, testpipe, Tanabe R/M)
AEM fuel rail & fpr
Hondata stage 2b

I was thinking the number were gonna be higher...suggestions on what to do about it? Thanks guys

*might i add that the motor is built with je pistons and crower rods*

one thing that might be holding you back is the 2.5" exhaust since it's at such a higher boost level (vs something like 6-8psi).

wait a minute.. if that setup that he listed put out 190ish torque with a 2.5' exhaust and piping
would a 3' exhaust and piping decrease your torque? or would the torque rise with the horse power?

the 3" will make more torque and hp at high rpm...... the issue you are thinking of its low-midrange its possible to lose some power because of too little back pressure

that seems really low from what im thinking...should be closer to at least 300 w/ that much boost...i dunno though

Yeah that's what i thought too, and that's what people keep saying to me and i want to know why it's not. And what i should be looking for, should i take it to another tuner? Do i need cam gears? Cams? New Ingintion (stock right now)?

yah that's what I'm thinking. I just replied to a post about a turbo Si @ 12psi that made 306whp. The reason I thought about the exhaust being a problem was because he was running 3" exhaust, and a 3" cat and made 15whp (to get to the 306whp) by running a testpipe.

here's the post if u wanna see

another thought i just had was, what size are your wheels? if you are rollin on some "ferris wheels" its gonna take alot away from your whp...compared to rollin some steelies on the dyno...

just a thought

No "ferris wheels" here just rollin on stock si rims with 205/50 azenis. Hmmm...you think that my exhaust really could be holding me back that much?

I dont thinl its your exhaust. Are the people who tuned your car good or reputable? i seen stock bottem end with the HP on lower boost.

At ~15psi the exhaust will make a big difference, and the whole idea of a 3" loosing midrange is an N/A problem. With any FI setup the less backpressure the better as it spools the turbo quicker and produces power earlier.

Ask anyone that runs a straight down pipe how quickly the turbo spools.

If I were you I would take the exhaust and cat off for one dyno run and see what numbers you get. Then you will know whether to invest in a 3".

I have seen a bunch of hondata tuners over retard per pound of boost becuase the default hondata value is super conservative. This becomes evident when folks find the dont make more power when they go from say 13-15psi. If you can get a copy of your map i would be happy to look at it for you.

How do i do this?

So what should i do about this, should i go to another tuner and ask him to look at it and see what he thinks? Do you think maybe the tuner retarded my timing becuase i'm running stock ign?

he is reffering to the hondata igniton maps. the more you retard the timing, the safer the run, but loose more WHP.

Something is definetly wrong I have personely seen Jeff pull over 350 horses out of cars only running 12psi! These were Ls Vtecs,B20's, and GSR motors but still you should be making more power!

Yes and the strange part is that he told me that my car is in excellent shape. Why would he say that if he didn't mean it. Really not sure what to do about it. I only had maybe 2500mi on the motor before having it tuned.

What was your a/f ratio? you could be running too rich and that's why your # is not great.
