Help, Head stud for exhaust mani broke in half...
I was bolting up my turbo manifold, and one of the studs that protrudes out off the block snapped and is stuck in the block. How the hell can i fix this? It is delaying my install and I could still run the car like that, but If i have an exhaust leak, then im really screwed. Has this ever happened to any of you all? Please help. Any info is appreciated.

either way the stud needs to come out. Look into buying a stud remover kit and extracting the bolt that way. Hopefully you can get it out without drilling, if drilling is necessary you might want to helicoil it.

Easy fix....mig weld some material(wire from the mig) to the stud until you can eventually place a piece of steel to it....then weld that piece to it...then turn counterclockwise and remove....the weld will not harm the aluminum...and the heat will also help out....if you try to use an extractor, your asking for trouble...if you dont have a mig welder...then find a friend or shop that could do this for you....

If there is enough thread showing, thread two nuts on it, lock them, back the stud right out of the block.

Well there is no part of the stud sticking out. you see, its like chopped in half, in other words, the stud broke completely off the block, and the rest is stuck in the block. its flat and there is no part of the stud extruding out of the block...its completely flush w/ the block. So you dont think i should drill it?
I appreciate everyones help. Seems like the road to turboing a car always has its problems, and this is one that I am up against right now. I wont let it stop me from my dreams though. I just want to do this **** right so I dont have an even bigger problem. Let me know fellas. Thanks a bunch.

This is why I suggested to mig it....being that there is no stud protruding youll be able to mig material to it until there is metal hanging out of the hole.......then weld a small piece of round stock to it..then turn it out....easy...

yea i just dont know if i can find someone in my area w/ a mig welder. Ill look into it though.
thanks so much for your help.
what about a stud extractor? if i like drill into the stud w/ an extractor and remove it that way? do you see any potential problems like that or?
then say it comes out, i need to buy a new head stud and it will just screw right in or how would that work? i ask this because it seems like the stud is part of the block if you know what i mean, like it is an actual piece of the block. let me know guys, thanks.
