Help, Exhaust sounds like wrx, loss of power...
I am having a weird problem. I have a 98 civic with a jdm b18c gsr, turboed. The car was driving fine, then I started it up to drive home and the exhaust sounded funny, there was loss of power, and I couldn't build more that 2psi of boost. I changed the spark plugs, check the ign wires, and checked the cap and rotor. Noticed the oil was a little low so I filled it up. Drove her for about 5 miles and she was fine, then it started again the next day and same thing. I noticed I lost more oil and when i went under the car, my freeze plug from the black box on the back of the block from when i removed my pcv valve was missing, thats where all the oil went. I got a new freeze plug and changed the oil. And its still doing the same thing.
Could this be a vacumme leak somewhere? Thanks for help you can give. Figures this happens as soon as the car is up for sale

Wrx sound = blown headgasket and cracked ring landing for me.
In my situation the car made it home no problem, just sounded exactly like a scooby, idle was low, vac. on my gauge was off a little, the valve cover breather was blowing sweet smelling steam (coolant), some oil loss, etc.
Pulled the head off and found the head gasket smoked... pulled out the slugs to check em while it was apart... 4-5" of the ringlanding peeled off when I drug my fingernail across a hairline crack.
Was my fault though so no big deal, overboosted from a wastegate line coming loose... I was cheating the map sensor so I had no boost cut setup.

Weird, the car has been sitting in the garage for two months, driven maybe once every two weeks. The day it happened I was just using it to get to and from Acura, and it started making the noise. It wasn't over boosted, boost cut is set at 8 psi and I don't even think I hit 7 psi on the drive. I had it out two days ago and she ran fine, and I def beat on her a little to make sure she felt normal. The next day I start her up and bam, back to sounding like a wrx...

wrx sound means you are carrying a cylinder.
compression and leakdown are in your future.
my guess is ring land.

Or a large exhaust leak..... that would account for only being able to make a few psi

Did you put fresh gas in it after it sat for that time, maybe some bad gas from sitting.
Was just throwing out some thoughts, I hope it is just something simple like a plug but as I was saying in my case it was a little more than that unfortunately.

The car has not sat for too long, it was started at least once a week, and the spark plugs were just changed 2 days ago and I took her out for about 5 miles and she felt fine, now they are shot. Before that the plugs were changed every 3000 miles with the oil. Figures this happens when the car goes up for sale, guess I'll have to keep her now and build the bottom end and shoot for 500whp

like someone else mentioned, you should do a leakdown and compression check to maybe shed some more light on the problem.

Do you have a flex pipe section that could've caved in, on top of the other mentioned problems, too?

car drove fine 2 days ago, full boost and everything, put her in the garage that day, started her up yesterday and problems again, and the flex pipe did not get crushed while she was sitting there over night, although it is a little dinged.

Re: (Bailhatch)
check to be sure none of your injector wires came off of the injectors! (are you using the proper clips and/or could there be a break/poor connection in the injector wires)
I had one pop off on me and needless to say i had an instant subie!

Re: (GS-R Civic)
well youll still get a spark if you pull a wire, its just happening 360* off from what it should be if the wires are on there wrong. you need to verify 1-4 correct firing position. if it helps set the motor at TDC and take the dizzy cap off and follow the rotor, make sure its 1-3-4-2 put the wires in corrisponding to that order and that will be at least on less thing on your list of possible ****.
