Help with D series turbo, new to turbos.
I have a Eg Hatch DX. I am debating between turboing a d series or swapping in a b16 SiR-II
If I trubo the D, should I buy a "new" one from Hmotorsonline they are dirt cheap and have around 35K on them.
Realistically how much does a turbo setup run for a d series inc. all misc parts.
ANy sites you guys cna recommend to me so I can research this further, I tried a search but came up with nothing but for sale or WTB info
Any help is appreciated.

I would only piece together a kit if you really did your homework about whats involved with building a turbo kit, or how turbos work.
Depending on your budget, you can pick what kit you would like, or whether you look for a used one or not. If you are looking to go over 10psi of boost, look into a kit, or expect to get engine management that can adjust engine timing. Not all kits come with timing control.

Yeah, If not faster.
If you get a good turbo set-up and tune it decently you should be able to make more hp and more tq then a sir2. i've seen a lotof urbo d's runing 160-180whp and about 150lbs of tq.
compare that to a stock b16 140whp (+/- a little) and about 100lbs of tq.

How do you tune it properly, what PSi do I use (is this the smae thing as boost). Sorry for new questions but I gotta start somewhere to learn. Any decent turbo sites?
Price wise is it more cost effective to turbo?

Well, with 7psi of boost, I'm making 178 whp, which is about 210-215 at the flywheel. Its also easy to turn up the boost to 10 psi or so for racing and have about 240 hp, or close to 200-210 whp.
Kits, like the Edelbrock and Greddy come with fuel management. For 7psi + on the Greddy, you would need a intercooler, otherwise you'll run into detonation issues as the weather gets hotter, and a BOV (blow off valve) to increase turbo life.
http://www.turbod16.com Plenty of resources on turbocharging d-series engines. Read thru the FAQ forum.

Yep but thats flywheel hp.
For a decent turbo set-up expect to spend about $2500 for everything. So yeah it's cheaper then doing a swap.
Do some searchingon here about turbo set-ups, you will learn a lot. If you have specific question by all means post them but most generalized questions will be directed to the search function.
http://www.cheapturbo.com has good prices on turbo's.
You can find used intercoolers on here for about $150
maifolds can be found on here for anywhere from $100 used to $600 new (and every price in between).
Fuel management can be found here too.
You can use a fmu, high flow fuel pump, and larger injectors.
larger injectors and hondata.
larger injectors and a v-afc
Other forms of stand-alone (motec,aem,greddy e-manage,etc)
The basics that you will need
Turbo
manifold
intercooler
fuel management
oil feed and return lines
blow off valve
wastegate
intercooler piping
exhaust/ downpipe
Now go search all that stuff to learn more about it
Hope this helps you

I say go with the turbo d-series since you already got the motor and then move on to a turbo b-series once you learn if your really interested in it. I spent about $1100 on my turbo kit and all the parts were pretty much new.
