Help with choosing a boost controller
Looking to get a boost controller, hoping some feedback on peoples actuall experience with the different type units.
I am wanting probably a dual stage unit to run a low boost 12-14psi and a high boost 18-20 psi. Given the not so high boost figure thinking of using a manual type boost controller. This will also fit within budget. Have read (somehwere?) that the Turbosmart "gated" boost controllers are pretty good and better than a bleed type one. Don't really want to fork out the money to go electronic but opinions and feedback would be great (I can always delay and save up more money to get one). |

I sort of don't see the point in having a EBC if you are not goin to use the features
I know there is a benefit but I don't really think I will be needed gear specific boost, so not sure if the extra money is worth it. Althouh in saying that the manual boost controller I am swaying towards is the Turbo XS dual stage (high performance) one which isn't that cheap As per above I am only looking to run modest boost and only looking for 350ish hp and while I will race the car I am realistic and low 12's would make me happy with high 11's being super sweeet. Any more feedback or opinions espically on the Turbo xs controllers, please |
a manual bc can never be consistent like a good ebc

Hallman (great quality manual bc) and wont hurt the pocket to bad either.

Can someone explain why you wouldn't need a boost gauge with an EBC? I was wondering if I wanted a MBC or EBC but if I can save money on gauges this might make my answer. |

An EBC should come with a gauge already. My AEM tru boost has a gauge with a digital readout already with it. I love the tru boost cuz of the alarm that it throws when you are creeping or have a spike and it can even cut it when it's too high. It can save your motor if anything like that does happen. Plus it has a wastegate delay which I haven't used yet. You can get em used for less than $200 for everything.

I have a Greddy profec b for sale that I will let go for $150 shipped in the U.S.

I have the cluster bezel with 2 pods on the bottom left and right. I have the Tru Boost in one slot on my Innovate Wideband in the other. The bezel was only like $30 and it makes everything look really clean.

My AEM Tru Boost is the most user friendly EBC I ever used. I love it. :thumbup: |

This isn't mine, and it doesn't have the tru boost, but this is what it looks like. It keeps the gauges organized and easy to view.

Either run the turboxs dual stage. Or go with tuning software that Is compatable with boost by gear, then get the boost selinode and set your boost through the ecu. No external boost control needed,,

Hondata/Neptune/eCtune pwm boost control
or... AEM true boost (I like it because it works as a boost gauge too... simple high/low) |

I am using boost control through the Hondata s300. Boost by gear is a great feature, especially when using larger turbo setups. Not to mention you can tune your car properly.

I am using Boost by Gear / S300 also but having problems getting it to work, seems like it only goes to wastegate no matter the settings.. (sigh) vacuum is correct proper current & connection to ECU..not sure
