Default Help! Can't get blower pulley off JRSC!

I am attempting to change the pulley on my jrsc but i can't seem to make it budge. I've drowned it in WD40 and wacked it with a mallet. Now it seems to give a little but i'm afraid the play is coming from the shaft itself, and not because the pulley is loose. What to do? Anyone ever encounter this?

You need a 3 prong gear puller. Don't whack it off (the pulley ) with a hammer because you can damage the seals in the nose of the blower.

Sonny, thanks for that pic! How can i determine if i've damaged the seals? Does the shaft give a little play? I think mine is moving about 1/8 of an inch...

The nose of the blower will leak oil if the seals are damaged.

F*ck! its damaged then Its not pouring oil out of there...but i can see that its damp.

How serious is this?

I tried to take a pic but it didn't work...its too tight in there...oh well, i think there is a chance the seals aren't busted but i can def pop the shaft out a tiny bit by prying it with a screwdriver...this is what i was doing before to try and get that stupid pulley off

Anyway, when i spin the pulley it doesn't seem to leak any oil and so i think i might be alright...

Thanks sonny. I got those pullers and $30 later the pulley is off. I stil can pop that shaft out a tiny bit, but its tight and doesn't do it on its own...i'm going to just try it and hope for the best

Id make sure its OK by either asking Keith @ JR or someone like Sonny who has a lot of experience with Eaton blowers. Take some pictures and with a good description you should be able to figure out the next step.

I would hate to install the SOB just to have it start whining after a thousand miles requiring to pull it out and get it rebuilt...what a headache!

Hey Sonny, would you mind giving me your prognosis? Keith at JR always seems to take days to get back to me
