HELP Blew my 612hp motor the day after I got it tuned.
Got my car retuned by the same people that tuned it last time (800 miles ago). The setup only has 800 miles on it. Car made 612 @ 28psi tuned on crome. When the guy tuned the car he told me his computer he used to tune it had a few burnt circuits in it from a few miswired things before he started but he was not sure. With his computer it ideled fine and when I pluges mine in it was at 2000. He said it was the iacv that was messed in his computer, so thats why I tought it was ideling funny. The whole tune both times cost me $725. The reasone I took it back again was because my boost controller was fed and it would only make 22psi so I wanted to get a retune for higher boost. The shot is a well known shop around the area and the guys are cool but I want to know if this is a tuner error!
Today I go to the track, never boosted since the dyno tune. 1st pass car feels ok it was hot from driving a hour there it runs a 11.0 at 136mph. Second pass it blew, I got about 3/4 way down the track and it felt like there was a loss of power no pinging or anything so I got off it and it ran a 10.9 at 125mph. It also melted a few of the plugs
Setup.
62-1 turbo
1000cc
a1000 pump
84mm JE pistons
b16 block and head
Eagle strocker kit 2.0L
Darton sleeves
leaded race fuel
stock fuel pressure
Tell me what you guys this could cause this. I have the crome bin file if anyone want to se it just pm me your email address unless someone knows how to post it on here
that is number 4 its melted all the way down the piston!

Re: (xenocron)
4 melted the worst, but 3 melted also. 2 had some signs of small heat cracks.
using leaded racefuel fuel pressure is around stock we set it the first time I got tuned and since then my guage broke

he said his iacv circuit was fucked he had to scale it weird to get it to idel on another car. and when the kid put his back in it was fine. It dont really sound like a major issue but just wanted to get feedback.

did the shop suggest you use a block guard and maybe say they have had bad luck with sleeved blocks?

Alright, I've got the screen shots of his bins. I've got Jeff's tune he was on prior, as well as the "retune"
First Tune High cam fuel
The RETUNE....high cam fuel
DRAMATIC reduction in fueling in some areas, specifically above 20psi
First tune high ignition
The RETUNE high cam ignition
Doesn't look any different because it isn't....not one cell. It really doesn't look like a tune at all in fact, just a basic degree of retard/psi. The rise in the peak torque area is just the result of reflecting the stock map.
They leaned it out and it blew up....

It would work, it would suck to tune the car with a bad IACV curcuit.

I have the first tune though, it exposes the true b.s. .... HA HAAAA!!!
O.P., I think the statement that the tuner made saying "in all his time tuning cars, ignition timing never made more power" reveals his tuning philosophy. He tunes the wideband and calls it a day. He leaned it further than the first tune in an attempt to increase power and due to the change you see in air/fuel between the street and dyno, that was all she wrote.

We will probably never know. Two gallons in the tank at the track could have had something to do with it. A:F could have been too lean. Could have been too little ignition timing causing the spark plugs to get hot and cause pre-ignition ... ... ...
