your best bet is to call the local or regional shops and ask if they have that kit in house and could help you out. it would probably be alot cheaper to go that route like you said rather than buying the kit itself. i had one break off in the block years ago and i had it drilled out and the threads repaired

If you haven't already, you could check the Regional Forums within Honda-tech. You may have better luck there...

i called my local machine shop, he would do it, i asked if he could lend me the kit, but he didnt want to. I really dont have the time to pull my whole motor and give him my short block :[

then i would see if he is willing to come to you....otherwise you will need to buy the tools to do it.

tapping it the same 11x1.5mm thread wont help you if the threads are already damaged.
what you need is the kit with it's own sized tap to insert the time-sert or heli coil repair....

I had the same thing happen to my block. I bought the time sert kit and it was easy. The thing is u need to drill the holes out and tap it for the new timesert. So if u want it done right I would buy the kit or have someone who knows what they are doing or you'll make the problem worst. Good luck.

Re: Helicoil/timecert stud kit, midwest people look at this!!!
I've done this a couple times. Get the correct size heli coils and drill out the stripped ones and tap the block. Be sure to go deep enough to get two heli coils in there. I'm currently running one stud with one heli coil and it's holding fine but it's better to have two. I've donethis one two blocks and it works just fine. In fact both I've done with the block in the car. It's pretty easy if ou know how to drill and tap. Just be sure to tap straight lol

I speak little english, you don need to buy expensives tools, a machine shop can help you.
This is what you need.
1 bolt (for each stripped thread) 5/8
1 tap 5/8 the same thread as the bolt
1 tap 11x1.5 im buy a kit at sears
Look at my post if you need any help maybe i can translate
