Default head work on a turbo RS, what can I expect?

I am getting a deal on a head (93 b18 non vtec) as he states the following was done ". Brand new never been used Integra B18 (Non VTEC)head. It was machined by JG Engines. Head was ported polished and honed to provide an increase in airflow nearly 40% more than stock. "he also told me "New valve springs and full angle valve job done."
this will be going on a 1998 acura intergra RS (non vtec) I am curious to what kind of gains will I expect? I also plan on replacing the timming belt, installing a block guard (not sure which one yet!). I know I will need a new valve cover gasket as well as a new exhaust manifold gasket and a new head gasket!..
There are no cams with the head so I will have to use my stock one. I figure any improvement over teh stock head is a ramtic improvement as we all know how well the stock b18b head flows.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
who makes a good block guard ?
I am getting the head for cheaper than he got the work done for!!

It is hard to guesstimate power increase, it is an inversion of CFM that i am not going to calculate for you based on 40% aitflow increase - the stock head actually flows pretty darn good when you put 20psi behind it. any way the valve jod is worth a few ponies and so is the port, really the way to maximize that work to the head may lie in a cam shaft to wake it up. Usually the biggest gains on port work come from a simple port match and smoothing out the exhaust. I do not think that porting the intake that a polish should be performed as that sometimes leads to furl puddling as there is not enough turbulence.

Get a nuformz block guard, str is too hard to install and I have seen it destroy blocks and gauge cylinders as well as shift them.

Your looking for problems if you get a blockguard...

WHen the time comes to make that much boost...Get a Sleeved Block or atleast Pins.

Suprdave

PS: Do a Poll on how many people have split sleeves without detonation. I bet there hasn't been many...The problem is Detonation, and a Block Guard will make that worse.

I never recommended a guard but nuformz is the best one out there, dont you believe pinning is the same thing as the guard?
cheers,

Hmm I thought the ports were less efficient on the B18A heads. I would find a 94+ head.
