have SECU, but now???
I have a 90 civic DX with a dying stock motor. I want to stay away from the Bseries and go the route of either the D16 or the ZC. But which one. I have only just begun but I am confused with all the options and limitations. I have purchased the Zydne SECU and have heard the great potential with the right setup. Help me choose that setup. I have a few guidelines.
1. Emmissions legal( Texas )
2. Total cost 2500.
3. Goal is to have a car capable of running high to mid 13s with a good driver, slicks, legal dragway.

I'm a big fan of the ZC, but you have to understand that engine is around 15 years old, beat on by every overeager kid who couldn't afford something better, and needs to be rebuilt. Get one for a couple hundred, rebuild it. If the labor or price involved in that is more than you'd like, then most any D16 in very good shape is a nice alternative.
If you go the old HF/STD/CX manifold with adapter plate to Mitsu 14b or T3 route, you should be able to lay hands on a decent turbo affordably. If you can't hit mid 13's on street tires at 10psi, then there is something wrong with you.

Im a fan of the sohc vtec head + whichever_decent_d_bottom_end_you_find_at_the_yard route
Sohc vtec heads are easily found for less than $200.
I like the zc, but if your looking to go cheap & easy,
i prefer the sohc vtec route.

Does the Dohc respond as well as the Sohc? Also, I have searched to find that the distributor has issues that people on this board, anything to sidestep this and start out right?
