Have: 93LS 5spd, 2500 bucks; Need: built motor for upcoming turbo, help!
Hey ya'll,
I have been scrapping and saving, and I've got about 2500 bucks to spend. Eventually, I want to have a built turbo motor in my 93 LS 5 speed coupe.
Basically, right now I want to re-sleeve my block, get new pistons and rods, and put in new OEM parts the need replacing so that this motor can take a lickin.
The engine has about 75,000 miles on it now, so what all needs to be replaced while I have the motor out? Bearings, timing belt, headgaskets, what..?
Next, my goal is to run mid to low 12 second quarter miles, with 9.5:1 compression, bigger bore pistons (sleeving the block anyway, might as well go 84.5mm right?), forged connecting rods, and a rebuild of the beaten up stock parts on the motor.
Will I be able to do all this with 2500 bucks?
What types of pistons/rods would be suited for this app, and yet still fit into my budget?
Please help.
-Mike

are u already turbo? if not **** building the motor and just boost your stock one.. 75k miles is not too bad, i have 72k and my turbo is goin on soon.. get the turbo in and run 13's, build the motor later and run 12's...
