heres the story this is going to be a drag only car no street time on this baby
i ordered the gt3076R with .63AR hotside they sent me the .82ar do you think i should use it or just go ahead and return it for a 63.. how long do you think till it spools.. we plan on spraying to spool up later on this year anyways soo what do you guys think
everyone on turbo d16 is anti 82ar.. but none of them have any real experience with it.. anyone.. even a b16 so i can find similar spool

setup as follows

cp 9:1
eagle rods
acl bearings
toga hv oil pump

zex59300 cam
venom intake mani

Rc 750s
hondata s300
precision 600 hp ic
sls topmount
4"dp
and gt3076R .82AR

If its a drag car like you said, I'd try it. The turbo has proven to do well on other d16 setups. Just be prepared to wait a touch more for the initial spool. I think if your head was ported, the .82 ar would be even better to take advantage of a longer power band.

yah thats what im thinking.. how big a diff is the 82 ar gonna make on spool time.. i do plan on getting a port job and oversized valves soon prob tune it without make a few trips to the track and port it then slap n20 on it

I personaly wouldnt. Im not a D-series expert, but I do know that a 3076 is a BIG turbo for a D16. And now your running a bigger AR than you had planned on. Its not going to be fun.

if it were me i would run the .63 a/r housing. spool up will be rather late with a top mount and the .82 a/r housing.

thats what i was saying, go look at turbod16 and search for the members that have used the bigger turbo's. most of them havn't had much success at all with anything over a 57 trim, and even with a gt series turbo if you are not ft shifting you will almost certainly fall out of boost between shifts. the one person i know of having great results with a bigger turbo is a guy using a gt30 with a .63 a/r, and he is making 500whp with it effectively. all others that have tried are running into problems at about the 400whp mark. if it is an all out drag car then you can go for it, but for the best aviliable power band why not get something smaller like a 57 trim or a gt30 .63 a/r. even though it is drag racing, the car with the most hp will not always win. powerband plays a big role in track times.
