has any one seen this way of mounting turbos
http://www.ststurbo.com/_turbocharger_kits
They have few kits out for domestic and import trucks from toyota. They mount the turbo using the exhaust underneath the car and then run the pipes to the appropriate places. I was skeptical but guys on the ls forums are making good power this way. It would be simple to adapt to most cars but i think hondas are just way to low.

Re: has any one seen this way of mounting turbos (b18bturbo)
yea, a picture was posted a while ago but the problem I see with that setup is with such little displacement of our motors, there would be tons of lag from the loss of heat energy b/c the turbo is so far back.
plus all the extra piping will add some lag as well as reduce power.
v-8s have the extra cubes to get away with a setup like that.

He probably has an extra electric oil pump for that turbo. Add an water/air I/C and you have a total sleeper turbo kit..lol

hahahahha, these guys are a joke
look at a reason they put for "remote mounting"
Denser exhaust gasses to drive the turbocharger turbine wheel more efficiently

also,
Good intercooler efficiency without the expense, pressure drop, and installation problems associated with a front mounted intercooler.
They are just trying to sell kits.

Does anybody have that old school ad for the Mugen turbo kit for the 85 crx, I have it at home but not here. They tucked the turbo behind the engine before the cat using the stock exhaust manifold and a custom downpipe. Then had a short charge pipe then went straight up to the intake manifold which was right above the turbo. Not efficient but the simplicity makes it kinda cool. It would be so easy with some creative charge piping to make it look like a stock NA motor.

Re: has any one seen this way of mounting turbos (stackz)
get a vented hood if your blower get's too hot IMO, mounting it under the fuel tank is good only on car with cramped engine bay, you got power loss in friction with all the pipe I think it's best under hood, if it wasn't, all the FI top fuel dragster would have them mounted 1 mile away from the car !!
