Haltech, Zdyne, Hondata, DFI, etc...
I want to get a good engine management setup for my heavily boosted b18c that i'm building. i have a friend that is gonna sell me a haltech e6k very cheap, but would it be better or worse than a hondata, zdyne, dfi, etc.. I don't care that i need to make a harness for it, not a problem, i have nothing but time for this car. Ease of tuning is not a problem either, I just want the most powerful unit. I'm thinking Haltech since papadakis, the Injen mirage, all the high boosted cars use it.
thanks,
Jared

Zdyne and Hondata both use factory ECUs.
Haltech, DFI, Speed Pro and Motec all use their own processors, which are suited to the needs of engine management. Haltech is a good system, a little bitchy to tune, but good none the less. Speed Pro and DFI are right up there with it, except both a little easier to tune on. The most powerful unit isnt Haltech. Motec is probably the best on the commercial market. But there are some engine management systems that cost well over 15 grand. If you change your mind on the Haltech, Im a Speed Pro dealer, and I can get you a good price on one.

i have the speedpro setup right now.
there's still tuning and **** to be done. i'm not 100% happy with it yet. (especially for the price). papadakis, lisa, kenny, whoever else, dont run their cars on the street as their daily driver...i do...so, there are things i'm hoping to work out over time. i dont want to cast my doubts on the speedpro this early.

the dfio 7 is only a newer version that is built for honda with the features of windows. its pretty much the same. The only bad part of a speed pro right now is the datalogging and lack of a 4 bar map sensor.

ECU tuning
How about you ask dealers like Tom Payn from Payn Technologies in Michigan Ph 248 362 0283. He has experience in installing Speedpro and Hondata systems.

I am very happy with my SPEEDPRO FUEL INJECTION and would recommend it for anyone!! Come on, nothing beats a stand alone system like this. Well, mybe Motec; but who has 5 grand to spend on a racer budget.......SPEEDPRO all the way-bank to bank or sequential "it doesn't matter!" nuf said

I run DFI on my car and I have tuned lots of haltech and speed pro cars.. the trick to tuning on the street is driving and know what a car needs and when it needs it.. My car is very smooth and easy to drive around.. and Im using OLD CRAPPY DFI.. Speed Pro and the other can run even smoother. Its all in the tuning.
Get a good tuner and you will have fewer problems.
