Default H23 VTEC question... *crank*

Ok guys I just spent about the last two hours reading over everything having to do with the H23 VTEC swap, and I still wasn't able to answer my question. They talk about not wanting to rev this motor above 7K due to the r/s ratio or whatever. But I'm going to be building this engine with a huge turbo, obviously with this kind of setup my powerband is going to be on the higher end of the scale, and in order for this to be worth it I need to rev much higher. I know that it can be done as I have read about cars with this swap that can rev to 10K.

Quote:
Swinging the forged slugs on a microphone factory crank are Crower conrods. The Crower rods are substanially thicker and stronger than the stockers and are able to withstand the rigors of a pressurized engine that is capable of revving to 10,000 rpm.
Endquote

That is from an article on a hatch that a company named DRT built. 593whp. So does that mean that you can just rev this engine that high, or do I need to weld the crank. What do I do? Thanks for the response guys

i turn my h23 8000 with a stock valve train, its no biggie. i am going to turn it closer to 9000 next year with some valve springs and retainers.

yes.... valvetrain will be aftermarket. so realistically I don't have anything worry about in reving the stock h23 crank to 9K?

I believe so.... correct me if I'm wrong.

List:
h22a head 93+(USDM) or 92+ (JDM) with all internals and valve cover
h22a thermostat housing
h22a waterpipe
h22a waterpump
h22a headgasket
h22a lower crank gear
h22a timing belt
h22a headbolts
h22a plug wires *aftermarket*
h22a intake manifold (injectors perfered) *aftermarket*
h22a header and downpipe *aftermarket turbo setup*
h22a cam gears *aftermarket*
h22a top timing belt covers
H22 tranny

That's what I'm looking at. You should enlighten me on your 10 second setup. That's what kinda numbers I'm shooting for. Wanna be the first Honda/Acura in ND to get to the 10s.

Cause the guy that I bought my hatch from damn near through in the h23 complete swap. So I think I'll be much better of this way.

coo.

Seems to be a crave locally to buy them, rumors of the manufactered h23 vtec would have the oil squirters and what not oil/ coolant passages that are not present on the frank h23 vtec. Not sure the actual truth to this... if any... that the actual diffences cause failures that is.

also install oil squirters from a h22 in the h23 block, they bolt in. install the oil splash shields from the h22 into the h23. do not forget to remove the oil restrictor from the h23 block. it is located between cyl. # 2 and #3 on the intake side. vtec will not engage if you do not remove. the h22 and the h23 blocks have the same part number.
