Default H22 Turbo to sleeve or not to sleeve

Hi Folks,

where is the grey area in power output when it comes to deciding to sleeve a block or not?

My goal is around 500whp mainly because its a nice number and completely nutty amount of power in an EG.

Ugh - this again.

People make 500 on stock sleeves with Mahle pistons with varying results.

Stock sleeves/pistons 350ish.

The info is out there, there's a h22 mahle thread, there's a stock sleeve turbo h22 thread, check the stickies in the prelude forum.

with the preludes that we've turbocharged with the same components here, they tend to die after 350whp on the sleeves outside of Dyno world horsepower. So, you've seen the two perspectives from 2 different people with 2 different experiences. One says sleeve, the other says no.. The "tuning" and "driver" factors are then biggest areas to worry about.

So, despite the "uggh".. you have two ways of doing it.. Sleeve or don't.. your choice.

Good luck, either way.

My stock h22 has 400hp for a few months now. Still hasn't blown up.

The FRM sleeves are not the issue with a H22 its the low ringlands on the oem pistons and the poor machine work when the block gets bored. Look into the history of the FRM sleeve and what it was originally designed for. With a good tune the Mahle pistons will work great ive seen many cars go 9.50 at 155 or faster and it takes 700+ to do that Do some research on the frm sleeves
