H22 - 10:1 - 16psi 0n 93 pump OK?
I have a fully built H22, 92 hatch. It's a street driven toy only used on nice days. The shop tuning it recommended running race gas for the higher boost level. (16psi) I'm running 113 octane race gas only. (465 whp, 348wtq) Should this setup be able to run 16 psi on a good tune using 93 octane pump?
I'm considering using E85 because it would cut fuel costs and is readily available.
H22 - GT30 w .82 a/r, sleeved, Arias 10:1, Crower rods, JG head, 950 cc inj., HondataS300, ARP head bolts, Supra fuel pump, additional inline pump, stock cams, GE intake, Rev Hard exh., cool air intake, large IC, AEM fuel rail, MSD 6AL w HVC, 3" exh. from turbo back, dump tube & test pipe, Coolingmist methanol/H2O injection - activated @ 8 psi, Tial 44 wg, Blitz ID-sbc (elect. boost controller w progressive boost) etc.
Anyone with experience on 16 psi w 10:1 comp. on 93 pump? Would this setup be on the edge or relatively safe?

Boost pressure is not a deciding factor for octane usage. I have ran 25psi on a gt35r and made just shy of 560whp on pump gas on a b18c... but this is not the safest thing to do. To be honest with you, it's stupid. I typically switch to a higher octane after 450-500whp.
With 10:1 you can get away with 93 octane and 500whp but if you have access to race gas, then why not run it? It's safer and you can make more power reliably using it.
Making XXX much power on pump gas is fun for bragging rights (especially the tuner) and that's pretty much all it's good for. So again, run the higher octane fuel instead of 93.

If it was safe, I was just hoping to cut my fuel bill in half and be able to drive more than 250 miles without worrying about finding race gas. I could turn it down to 14 psi (around 400 whp) and still enjoy it if I knew it was safe on 93 octane.
Thanks for the reply.

anthony is a fairly experienced H series tunner, I would say listen to him, additionally If it were my motor I wouldn't hesitate to run 16 psi on forged pistons even if it is at 10:1, the thing i would try out is different octane levels
Depending on your turbos flow and quality of 93 octane gas you get you should be able to do it but I would make sure your using an good tuner.
