Guy's I really need some advice about my engine smoking.
Ok, so my car started smoking a little, then a lot, so I thought it was the head gasket. I couldn't really tell if it was blue or white. Kind of a blueish white I guess. So I ordered arp head studs, and a new head gasket. And then, when I checked under the oil cap, I could have sworn I saw milky white. So the engine sat for about a week, and I drained the oil, and no sign of coolant. I drained the coolant, and no sign of oil. Took the valve cover off, and no milky white. Then I proceeded to take all my piping off, and there is oil in the exhaust side of the turbo. No oil in the manifold, just the turbo. So my question is, should I still take the head off and replace the head gasket, or should I just leave it alone? Can any of you turbo guru's help give me some advice on what I should do?
Thanks,
Paul
Thanks,
Paul

If oil is in your exhaust it's most likely the oil seals in your turbo that are leaking. that would explain the smoke.Time for a rebuild

Turbo rebuilds aren't quite as bad as taking off the head...i would think

It does sound like bad oil seals. I'd rather try taking the turbo off and starting it n/a to see if that helps. That would save you a lot of time.

But when I took my valve cover off, I didn't see any milky substance. Shouldn't there be some on the cams, or valves, or some type of residue? Even tho the engine sat for a week, and I drained the oil, shouldn't there be some residue left I could see?
