Default Gutting stock muffler for turbo

Question is, my 3" exhaust, straight through cat and muffler is hella loud now that i fully built my motor. I'm wondering if it's possible to stick with my 3" pipping but gut out my stock gsr muffler and weld the 3" pipping to the muffler. Will this lower the noise any? any losses? Otherwise, I'm going to with the e-cutout route.

If you gut the muffler, it's not gonna help any. I ran a 28" long straight through "turbo tube" style muffler on my straight 3" exhaust and it quietened it down tremendously from no muffler at all. Sounds good too
