Default GT35R versus SC61 Before/After (Plots, graphs, data)

This is about as close to an apples to apples comparo as one can get.

The only thing changed between pulls was the turbo and proper tuning for each!

B18C1
Stock sleeves
Stock cams
Victor X intake mani
9.7:1
100 octane
Full Race B-series non-AC kit
AEM EMS
750cc
Daily driver
Car ran a 11.6 on drag radials with the SC61

Note: Mustang Dyno numbers NOT dynojet......

GT35R with .70cold and .82hot with Precision housing to fit the 4 bolt DP

The GT35R yielded about 50 more peak HP with only 300-350rpm more lag time.

Enjoy

cool stuff ...

GT35R is going to be my next turbo, when I want more than 441whp..

T3/t4 57 trim cold / .68 hot is too small for my needs....

so about 20 psi on each turbo huh?

interesting. I had found the same result when doing the comparison of the Innovative "SC61" killer, but when we used it in comparison to the GT37 Turbo, both the GT35R & GT37 had damn near the same results.

notably, the sc61 kept a steady 20psi or below, even dipping down into the 18psi area and only peaked slightly at the end of the rev range... the gt35 however (right at 6500, where the change in power is noticable) is at 22.6+ psi. maybe has a little something to do with it.

to a sc61. on a dynojet i made 616whp with a .63 T3 exhaust. anything above 25psi i started loosing power....just out of turbo at that point.

??

Looks to me to be @ 19.6ish psi around 6500 from the data above and actually the on-board GM 3-bar shows 18ish.........

P.S. It is pointless to dissect "plus or minus a pound"

Especially when you look at the dyno plots - you can see the SC61's power is falling off near redline, where the GT35R is holding steady. With a built motor, I'd be an even bigger difference.

Im curious to see how my GT35E / T4 performs. Hopefully the T4 will carry the power out more... and the Gt series turbine will make a little better power.

Nice job Jack, nice to know - GT35R looks to be a very good turbo - Now we need a GT35R Vs. T3/T67

What a/rs did the sc61 have, and which housings they were, and what stage exhaust wheel it had?

Or did you just changed out the centersection?

id say this is a pretty good test. yes the boost differs very slightly, but i bet it would be extremely difficult to get the exact same boost pressure.

good job jack.

thanks for the post.

do you mean .63 a/r on the turbine? also did it have a stage 5 turbine wheel? If it had a .63 a/r i would be willing to supply housings for a better comparison (t04s compressor housing and .82 turbine) great test tho, thanks for sharing
