Default gt35r or gtx35r

Ive started to build up my LS VTEC. my goal is to have a decently quick spool and high horsepower (around 500whp) turbo car, and eventually more when i get my hands on higher octane fuel. Its going to be a street car, but not a daily. My question is in regards of the gt and gtx of the 35r. I know the gt35r is capable of my goals but since the gtx spools faster im considering going that route, but does the power output difference of the two turbos make the gtx too big? the gtx is better all around but is it versatile like the gt35r? making it possible to have power within my goal and be in the turbos "sweet spot"? And like I said, eventually the power output will be increased to around 600whp or so. Thank you in advance!

GTX3567R is a fun one as well. Lots and lots of possibilities. Your budget is around $1700 anyway, but the more info you give about what you're doing with this car (other than a "street" car) the better..

Supertech valvetrain
Toda adjustable cams gears
Skunk2 tuner 1 camshafts
AEM CDI pencil coils
AEM EPM
AEM twin fire ignition
AEM EMS v.2
CP pistons 9:1
Manley H-beam rods
Darton MID wet sleeves 84mm
Skunk2 pro series intake manifold
Skunk2 pro series TB 70mm
Blueridge Motorsports top mount
Garrett turbo
ID 1000cc injectors
Golden Eagle pro series fuel rail
Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator
Aeromotive fuel filter
Bosch 044 fuel pump
94+ USDM GSR transmission
Quaife limited slip differential
Competition stage 5 clutch
Competition high pressure pressure plate
Competition lightened flywheel
ATI street crank pulley

Also it will be tuned by Garage Five and the motor will recieve the following machine work:
LS crank micropolished and balanced
Port and polished head
3 angle valve job
Resurfacing

Im just curious if the gtx35r is versatile in the sense that it will be responsive, or efficient and practical at my desired power goal, having the "all purpose" characteristic of the gt35r. With the ability to increase psi in the future when I have access to race fuel.

Thanks shodan

And I'll respond again to say that the GTX3567R, The Reaper Ball-bearing, and the 35HTA would be all over the GTX3582R for those exact reasons you've stated. Start researching those areas first. You're not going to see "back-to-back" dynos on hondas with this stuff as its all over the spectrum of imports and domestics alike. But I'm sure if you Google up, get in touch with the right people, you'll get it just fine.

What exactly do you mean by this?

When I made this post I was hoping for a response from you, seeking your knowledge on garrett turbos. I figured you were the right person to get in touch with. I know its not that simple, ill continue doing some more digging around on my own. thanks again.

Well. its not that simple, as I don't know the extent of what you've already discovered from other informative sources. Whenever I try to entice discussion about these types of comparisons with such similarity, its best to go over the entire spectrum of what it is you need out of this. Not just a "which is better".

When it comes to the usability of these turbochargers, dyno charts don't mean much, because of the fact that they utilize VERY similar characteristics. Its not an apples-to-oranges comparison. Its more like Washington apples, vs. Macintosh vs. Granny Smiths. These subtle changes and whether or not they work to your advantage really revolve around your engine configuration, camshaft and use.

If you'd like to discuss more, you're welcome to PM me. But the more information YOU provide, the better. Good luck to you.
