^^ My thoughts exactly. You're making a good amount of power on that engine and I'm not sure it'd like making any more...

300whp on a stock engine. Any stock engine is at it's limit if the tune isn't safe/conservative.

If I remeber correctly, the D sereis can handle around 220-225hp on the stockl bottom end. I would recomend that you go forged internals before you get crazy with the boost. Or this might happen

Re: whats a good turbo cam for jdm d15b
I have the exact same motor, and Im debating if I just want to boost it, or swap and go B series.. For the cost factor, I wont have to pay for labor of a swap which is a couple hundred dollars, then saving up for the actual swap 800+. My only issue is, actual power that can be gained and daily drive-ability. I was told to try and figure out where you want to be power wise, and then build to achieve it, but I don't know what is reasonable to expect. Any insight?

well, you've made your questions rather circular. you want to know where you want to [i]reasonably[i/] be, but at the same time you want to build where you want power wise. So, which is it? You need to ride in a few Hondas that are turbocharged (specifically Dseries) and figure out what you want to do with this car. If you want to be "reasonable", that means you don't want to do it at all, because it is not cost effective. This is not a "reasonable" sport, so look to what you want to achieve first.

When you start messing with motors, you lose the ability to just walk out an start your car and know that it will, everytime 100%.. That's where my concern lies initially.. I want a dependable car still, just going boost will get me quick power gains with less invested..

That car in the video is not ours and it's not from Florida. It is in Georgia somewhere and it is running a go-autoworks turbo kit. That is the highest whp and fastest stock jdm d15b that i have seen so far. I feel the max that the engine can handle is 270whp on a safe tune. Driving everyday I would stay at 200-240. You shouldn't need a camshaft unless you are going for 350whp or more.

Oh ok, Well I might need to talk to you guys about a turbo kit for my d15b that I have.. I'm leaning towards going boost as a cheaper alternative that swapping (To start)

Swapping makes perfect sense if your going to stay all motor. Going turbo on a D-series vs. B-series, the D will always come out costing less because you probably have the d-series engine already. On top of that you can build the bottom end for up to 600whp for less than a B or any other engine. 200-225whp will make for a very quick street car. Easy low 13- high 12 sec car. T3/T4 57trim turbo a $99 log manifold to decent e.l. turbo manifold along with proper supporting parts and a good tune will get you a very fun car.

About how much would a turbo kit for this car run... 200-240 sounds about all I want anyways.. and If i decide to get a little more out of it i'd like the turbo to be able to support it so I dont have to start ripping apart things in a major way. Im looking for an increase in my power, but still dependability.

We have quite a few options for your setup, just depends on what you want to do and how aggressively you want to accomplish it!
Our 1.2 cam would be good but our 2.4 is another good option! Shoot me an email for more info!

Re: whats a good turbo cam for jdm d15b
I know it's an old post but I had to say something. The 1.2 turbo cam is a mistake. You would hate yourself so much like you can't believe lol. You might as well stick with stock. I haven't herd anything good from anyone who tried the bisi 1.2. I can't believe he would even go there. For God's sake grind them into something else and spare more people the hardship. Have some mercy.
2.4 is where it's at if you drive it on the street. Only the 272-2 comes close to performing like a 2.4
Or 3.6 for all top end track use.
I'm sure Bisi is the most qualified to design a cam to maximize the d15stroke if the current d16 units can be improved on.
