GSR Turbo 18g - j-ktuning.com tuned
Had my gsr tuned a few days ago. We couldnt get the boost to stay stable at 10psi. It would drop right back to 8psi at the top. Also couldnt get a gm 3bar in time to run more boost.
It will get a retune in a month or so with a 3 bar and maybe a exhaust. Just only want 200wtq , which will be easily done with the greddy 18g.
Does anyone know how to get the boost stable on low boost? JK think its the stock exhaust. Does tightening up the rod will make it hold boost easier? right now the wastegate is set at 4psi with the rod just laying on it. We using a MBC to control the boost right now.
at 8psi jk got it to do 211hp/174tq.
STOCK Gsr w/ 127k miles
STOCK exhaust w/ CAT
Greddy 18g kit
FMIC
dsm 450 black
211hp/173tq
bond line 8psi - 4psi is the other line

yea i know
i just wanted a sleeper for now. but a 2.5" exhaust should be a 20-30hp gain easily

Re: GSR Turbo 18g - j-ktuning.com tuned
i see, wasn't flaming just wasn't sure why the numbers would be comparable to mine on a platform that makes 50HP more than me out of the box.
I had issues with using a MBC in my setup. with the MBC installed and set to its lowest boost the turbo wanted to spike well past 10psi, so far now i'm just running with it set at 10spi off the actuator rod. any reason as to why this was happening to me?

Stock exhaust and looks a bit rich. A 3 bar isn't really going to help. we did over 270whp at 9psi almost 10 years ago on a bone stock 18G GReddy GS-R. No actuator arm adjustment or anything like that. something may not be right in your situation

did that car have a exhaust? 127k cat w/ stock exhaust isnt helping. im sure the cat is a major blockage
a/f is at 11.5 in boost. also the compresion test on the motor wasnt so great too. it was 210psi straight across on my gauge. havnt tried another gauge. im sure with an aftermarket exhaust it will make 240-250hp easily on 8psi
i plan on having a exhaust when i get a retune with the 3 bar. if i dont, im only waiting 200tq so another 2-3psi will get me there on the stock exhaust with no cat
also how you adjust the boost without using a mbc. do you just shorten the rod by tighten the hook that goes into the flap? this is my first internal wastegate turbo

John installed a turbo kit on my friends sohc hatch a few years ago and then street tuned it the day we went to pick it up at his house.
Him and his dad are really cool.

You can still be sleeper with an exhaust, the turbo makes the car a lot quieter than it would be NA, especially on a Honda. Don't GSRs rev higher?

Motor had 80K on it at the time and with the cat made over 230whp. without the cat, over 257whp

Re: GSR Turbo 18g - j-ktuning.com tuned
right now without the mbc. it only makes 4psi. should i be adjusting the rod to 10psi or whatever then use the mbc?
or it doesnt matter where the rod is adjusted since im using a mbc?
