hey guys i was wondering if you could help me diagnose a coolant leak. i know not really FI related but it is a FI car and i know alot of you guys run gsr's or gsr swaps. dunno how many of you still run gsr IMs LOL. i also posted in the teggy forum.

anyways, i developed a pretty nasty coolant leak, somwhere under the IM. now i know the IM is 2 pieces plus the middle plate with gaskets in between each piece. my question is....is there any coolant running up there? could it be leaking from the gasket itself? or do you think its coming from one of the water pipes or hoses back there. its a real tuff spot to get too and the pressurized coolant made a pretty good mess so its hard to tell. what do you guys think ?

your best bet is to have the motor on and just look for the coolant leaking out somewhere. On the back there's a sensor that has coolant lines conencted to that, u might wanna check that. just check all the coolant hoses. there's alot of them.

yeah there are a bunch and they are hard to see under the IM. i was underneath and could kinda see but there is a bunch of coolant sprayed everywhere. it seems the leak is only under pressure cause i let it cool down a bit and restarted and it didnt leak immediately. ill have to sit down and take a closer look tomorrow when i have some more daylight.

is there any coolant running to the IM? or do we think its a hose?

Its probably a leaking hose, old hoses tend to do that at the hose clamp.

true. do you think i will need to take the IM off to get to those hoses. i know thats gonna be a PITA. also does anyone know if the JDM and USDM gsr's have all the same hoses. it looks like a few might be different????
