Default GRRR..is it possible that 3 OEM distributors go bad in a row!!!!

Trying to fix my ignition problem....my original one crapped out on me, rpm gauge all fluttery and breaking up....change the guts out from another distributor...worked for a while...then it started breaking up on me...changed to another completley different distributor...again it worked for like the first 3-4 runs perfectly...then breaking up again!

Keep in mind im using NGK's Vpower spark plugs 10's gapped down as much as i can...like .012-.013......

Will having a msd cap with external coil help any??? Im going buy a brand new rotor, cap and spark plug wires, see if that fixes it...but im thinking it might be the ignitor, once again those are like 230 bucks at the dealer, so thats my last thing i wanna replace if all possible... ANyone else having this much trouble with their oem distributors??...

my buddy is trying to solve this same problem by switching to an MSD distributer.. it's a gamble, but it might work out for him.

My friend had the same problem and he changed everything except the ignitor and after it was dead on the side of the highway thats what he changed to fix the problem. This sounds like your problem especially since you said the idle flutters... what exactly do you mean by that misfires? or like sudden flickers. If it flickers then its most likely your ICM cause the coils does not effect tach signals (i know cause i dont even run a coil in my dizzy with my cop setup). Best bet would be the ICM maybe try a larger gap on the plugs cause thats a pretty small gap to be running.

Maybe Im wrong but dont you want more gap than less on the plugs? Also, if you have the money, look into an M&W ignition, as they eliminate the ignitor in the distributor.

T1 cam trigger kit eliminates all that crap and you never have to worry about it again

no you want the gap as small as possilbe especailly with stock system, becuase when you boost, its harder for it to blow out at a smaller gap then a larger gap...yeh i was looking into the M&W ones...around how much are they?

The one channel CDI is the Pro-10 and it is just a little under $500. Talk to Tony1 or Arturbo for a deal.

I have actually never seen a 10 in person. 10's are too cold for all street Honda's. 9's are even too cold for most street Honda's

Have you tried cleaning everything inside the distributor? I was having similar problems with mine due to the actual shaft that the rotor slides onto being rusty. I say that's what it was anyway cuz after cleaning everything up with scotchbrite it worked fine. Might have just been a coincidence but it's worth a shot.

The plugs you are running are way too cold and that gap is really tight for plugs. With tight gaps you need to modify the plugs to get rid of quenching or tightening the gap will not be as efficent as it can be. Even if your saying that you are planning or running 20 psi. One of my buddies is running like .024 gap on heat range 8's on a 26psi pump gas and no blow out. there is something else wrong with your igniton system and tighter gaps and colder plugs is not a correct way of dealing with anything. There has also been cases of ignition problems resulting from a bad tune...

well it cant be the tune...cuz i doubled checked the maps, plus it ran good for a straight week on ngk 7's....gapped at .013....hmm ill try 8's and start with that gap...but i dunno im bout to give up and go with m&w pro 10...Also why am i able to pull a few good runs once in a while.?? most of the time though it misfires though...

Also what do u mean by modify or quenching?

the more things heat up like after doing a few pulls the worse its gonna break up.
