Default greddy turbo timer i bought used not working right

i bought a used turbo timer off of ebay and wanted to test it to make sure it works i hooked the red wire to pos side and the black to ground all of the functions work but i thought when you turn the power on you hear the little bit of music or do i have to fully hook it up to make sure that works

you have to hook up more than just two wires, at least thats how it is with my bllitz, all of them hook up the same (i think) off of the main connector coming from the timer itself, there should be two small black wires, both starting from the same place. ground those two and it should cut on

it does work with only two wire hooked up the red to positive and black to negative the problem i am having is that when i power it on i dont hear the little music and i want to know if when i install it in my car will i hear that music when it it is fully wired up
