Default Greddy Turbo Acutator Information

The greddy turbo actuator on the 92-95 civic kit, the vacuum hose on there it runs out from where(intake turbo side?) and goes into the acutator. This hose runs of vacuum or boost????? When I grab the acutator rod with a pliers it seems to take quite some pressure to move it back and forth. When I rev the car in neutral there is a slight blow coming out from the hose. Can I use a valve such as this to control the boost cause I just took out my electric one for my other car http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...46847
It runs off a ball bearing and a spring mechanism, my uncle tells me that it wont work on that vacuum.

That's just a homemade manual boost controller. I've never used one, but if it's made well, it should work fine.
