Anyone have problems with a greddy oil filter block adapter leaking oil? I put it on maybe a month ago and torqued down the bolt pretty well to make sure it wouldn't leak against the block. Both the ring gaskets are in place. Sure enough, I go about 15miles and was down about 2 quarts of oil, and oil is all over the bottom of the car. Get the car on a lift, took off the oil filter and torqued down the bolt as hard as i could. Still leaking oil, but less. Maybe about a quart every 75-100 miles, which for me is over a quart a day. Today, about a month later, I finally have time and get under the car to check it out, take the oil filter off, and was able to unscrew the bolt holding the adapter to the block BY HAND!!! what the heck is happening? is there some kind of oil-safe thread-lock or equivalent that I can put on there to prevent this? I'd rather keep it setup this way than tee off the oil pressure sensor.

Here is what I did. After I got tired of mine leaking, I took it off and put alot of hondabond on it, and then torqued it down. No leaks.

mine has been in for about 6 months, been through 3 oil changes, i havent had any problems

i am having no problems with my GE one, the only problem is i cant use any filters other than the PH6811 from fram.

are u sure that the oil is coming from the block side and not the filter side?

cause mine pissed oil untill i looked at a 3595 filter and a 6811 filter side by side, (both fit hondas, 6811 is from some acura car) and the 6811 had more clearance for the adapter bolt.

just a thought.

i use the fram with the grip 3593a i believe, no problems, maybe jb weld that bastard, or just do away with it all together

well..after taking it apart and putting it back together, it seemed to still have the leak...but..i think i found the issue. When I was lookint at it later it seemed that the oil was on the TOP of the adapter, all over the area where the oil line runs from. I'm gonna try taking out the fitting that connects the oil line to the adapter tomorrow and re-screw it in using teflon tape or something to see if it seals better.

I was gonna ask if teglon tape/paste had been used on the PT holes, but it looks like there wasn't any there. Also one thing to keep in mind is the Greddy has 1/8 BSPT ports and I cant remember the size of the bigger port. But both of those are metrich and the thread pitch is slightly different from your standard 1/8" NPT to AN fitting. I think I read some people saying that with some teflon tape/paste you can thread a NPT fitting into a BSPT port and it shouidn't leak. But rather then take that chance I just sold my Greddy plate for a GE plate which has NPT threaded ports and whatever size the bigger port is.

i had mine on for about 9 months with no problems at all. but i do have the factory oil cooler so i dont know if that makes a difference.

i believe that I have an npt plug on the extra port on mine with no problem, i used teflon tape and no leaks

alright, quick update. took the adapter off, screwed in all the fittings with teflon tape, seems to have fixed the issue, ran it pretty hard, still no leaks. Thanks for the help on this.

i have a customer who uses a greddy plate on his SC'd S2k

it leaked while on a road course catching the whole car on fire

since july i have been replacing parts on this car trying to get rid of burn evidence, everything that can be taken off from the engine bay, and from under the car has been replace due to this

Catching fire? That's wild..the entire bottom of my car is coated with oil. Took it to the car wash yesterday and tried to spray it off, it's too low to really get under there though.

Not NPT fittings, its the BSPP fitting.

Not NPT fittings, its the BSPP fitting.</TD></TR></TABLE>yeah the oil filter is placed directly in front of the header, and that day he was about 15 minutes into a HPDE session when the oil soaked the header with oil, causing it to flash fire and spread down the car and the whole right side of the engine bay

My GE adaptor has been working just fine. No leaks and it's been on for 1 year

well with the ge adaptor what oil filter are you guys using? are you using the stock skinny honda ones or the fram 3593a filter? or is there another filter i should use to help prevent it from leaking

I always use fram filters they never leaked on me before.
