Greddy 52mm Guage install (water temp, boost)
**UPDATE ON PAGE 2**
Edit: Pictures added at the bottom
Whats up everyone, me and my friend just installed my greddy boost and water temp guages. The guages "do" light up, but we cant' get any kinda of response from the guages. The needles don't move at all. We followed the directions on the greddy manual, and have the wires soldered into the correct power sources, or else the guages wouldn't light up. The sensors are all hooked up, I am not figuring this out at all. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Greddy 52mm Guage install (Sohc Driver)
are you sure everything is soldered correctly,
Ignition
Power (12V constant)
Ground
Accessories
you connected the clip from the sensor to the back of the gauge, right?

Re: Greddy 52mm Guage install (SiRkid)
yeah..we checked the sources with a voltimeter while the car was off. But lets assume that we did solder up the power sources incorrectly..would the guages still light up?

Here are the pictures...can you guys see anything wrong? BTW, I have all four guages hooked up, egt, water temp, boost, and oil pressure, however, only the watertemp sensor and boost sensors are hooked up. I can get all guages to light up, but the guages aren't reading anything.
This is my watertemp guage, and as you can see, I have them both plugged in.
Watertemp sensor is plugged in.
Boost Sensor is plugged in.
Vacuum source for the boost gauge is T'd off on the fuel pressure regulator.
All of the power wires of all 4 guages soldered together and then routed to a power source with blue electrical wire.
All 4 blue wires are tapped into 4 independent sources like so.
If you guys see any thing wrong, please let me know. Thanks a lot!

yes, everything was taped up with electrical tape. I just took off the tape inorder to take the pictures.

u have to ground all your senders, the water sender, i just solder a wire to the sender and to a screw to ground the car, and they will work.
All my senders had to be grounded before they worked. 10 bucks it's that

You shouldn't have to independently ground the probes/sensors. I've never had that problem when I installed all of my GReddy gauges.
You probably don't have the IGN wire done correctly. To check the gauges, string a wire from the battery terminal to the IGN (orange) wire for the gauges, or take it directly from the red wire bundle that should be connected to the battery. They should light up and give you some kind of response with the key in the ON position and the engine off. The boost gauge should read atmospheric.

like you boost sensor....
thats the difference between mechanical and electrical gauges, (I believe).
mechanical would have the vacuum line hooked directly to the back of the gauge. Electrical would have a sending unit hooked up in the engine bay close to where you tee'd the vacuum source, which then sends a V signal to your gauge.

Good news and bad news
lol..well, I have good news, and I have bad news!!! I got the guages working perfectly now....IN VTEC and SiRkid hit it on the dot. I ran an electrical wire straight to the battery. Solved the problem. Funny thing is however, it was already tapped into a constant 12v. Wierd!!!
But anywhoo..now on to the bad news!! While testing out my guages, I drove around the city for a little bit. Beasting it here and there, to see where the guages read at (WOT, Idle, and cruising). Everything was peachy, and when I was on the final stretch back home, I decided to beast it one more time. I went through 1st gear, went into 2nd and kinda grinded it in there, went WOT up to redline(7k rpm), and then, let off the gas & popped in the clutch simultaneously, Ut-Oh, at the same time, my car is slowing down as if its still in 2nd gear(engine braking). WTF!! I manage to pop it into neutral, however i can't get it back into any gear!! I pull over..only to find out that possibly my Slave cylinder went out. I was only 1 mile away from home. Worst luck ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This sucks serious donkey *****. I still have pressure on the clutch when I push it in, yet I still can't get it into any gear when the motor is running. So to solve the problem, I turn off the motor and put the car into 2nd gear and started the motor and just cruised shamefully back home.
BTW...this is how my gauges read during the test drive. Do they seem up to par?
Water Temp Readings: Inbetween 90 and 100 degrees Celcius[/b]
Oil Pressure Readings: Idle=1.0 to 1.25, Cruising at 2k rpm=3.5-4.0, WOT=6.0
Do these readings seem normal for a bone stock N/A B18b?

Re: Good news and bad news (IN VTEC)
nope..ACT HD/Street disc/12lb ACT flywheel. A year old and with 20,000 miles at most on that clutch.
I am hoping its just the slave cylinder or master clutch cylinder :knock on wood: With the symptoms described above, can it be anythign else?

Re: Good news and bad news (Sohc Driver)
If you've lost enough hydraulic pressure to insufficiently disengage the clutch, then the pedal probably wouldn't come all the way back up.
I'm guessing you toasted a clutch.
Check the hydraulic system anyways and flush the clutch fluid if necessary just to narrow down the cause by process of elimination with the easy stuff first, then worry about the clutch and other things.

Re: Good news and bad news (IN VTEC)
You probably busted or split one of the springs on the disc....i did that b4 long long time ago reved it really high and then popped in the clutch.....didnt want to go into gear after wards and took the tranny off and on one of the disc the spring was broken
BTW: Glad the gauges worked out for you Khoi

He he, thanks..im surprised that you remembered i bought the egt and boost from ya. Man..i hope its not the clutch at all.....
