Default greddy 18g turbo how much power can it support? (searched already)

Does anyone know how much power can be pulled from the greddy 18g turbo from the 99-00 civic si kit. Can I get 300+whp from it? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

I am using a bigger downpipe/exhaust, and the wastegate is worked. Plus a built bottom end.

I am hoping for 330whp or better tuned on a stock bottom end so I would say you can do it on a built one....I have been runnin 15psi for 6 months and have no boost creep or spikes. get a profec-B that did it for me

Should be no problem. 18g turbos have put down 400 hp in talons.

I think forced performance 18g turbos flow 550-600 cfm

Just be sure to run a larger downpipe. I would also look into replacing the cast elbow with a tubular setup...

Yeah I plan on using a bigger down pipe but I am worried about boost spike I know the wastegate is designed for a street legal setup and I have a thermal exhaust, but I don't think it is the 3" that I had ordered

Here are the flow charts for dsm turbos http://www.m2g.com/index.php?o...=DESC

The wastegate is to bypass the turbine. At higher boost, you don't need the wastegate as much because you will not need to bypass the turbine as much...

ive heard you shouldnt run over 13psi on a 18g turbo. you can still reach 300whp with 13psi and some other goodies though.

You've heard wrong. The Dsm's run these over 20 psi.

I get 250 whp at 11 psi boost which spikes up to 13 psi. I don't get how to hold boost with the 18g. My compression is 8.5:1 with a 3mm inline pro headgasket.

i'd like to see you run 20 psi on the 18g's internal wastegate.

can't avoid the spikes when u up the boost past 14psi.

i've had the greddy kit and it produced 295whp at 14psi on a stock gsr block, that's all you should really expect out of it. if u want more, try planning on a larger turbo.

The greddy kit sure is fun to drive when the boost gets past 12psi. I dynoed at 1 bar and my avcr holds it pretty solid all the way. Gonna upgrade to 3"dp, exhaust, skunk2 im, and crower402t's then up the boost to try to max it out. Hopefully 300-325. It spools up really quick and is a perfect street turbo

Are you still using the Greddy cast elbow for the downpipe?

Look at the flow charts. It will produce up to 400 hp! I personally upgraded my turbine housing to the HRC 10cm housing, which remains internally gated.

The greddy internal wastegate spikes because it dumps into the cast elbow which causes turbulence and restricts flow. If you upgrade the elbow the turbo will not spike.

Everyone always says to go bigger for turbos, but it's not always necessary, and bigger turbos will lag more

that's an ignorant statement.

my friends gst spyder had the greddy 18g kit on and ran 20 psi daily, no spiking. held solid. no dyno though, sorry.

swoosh, take everything you read on HT with a grain of salt. do your research, go to some dsm boards and ask around there too.

All I have is the pipe with the o2 sensors made bigger how can you upgrade the cast piece that is hooked to the turbo.
