greddy 18g kit vs jrsc
i am debating if i should go with the greddy kit or a jrsc. it is a daily driver with stock internals and i don't want to blow the motor. i need it to be really reliable.please give me some info. i have 60,000 miles on the motor and want to get 100,000 out of it.

IMHO any turbo is better than a SC mainly because you don't have to tighten or replace belts every few weeks/months. The greddy kit is very reliable for daily driving, just make sure you change your oil every 3k miles or less. Also check your oil regulary. I had a greddy kit on my d16y8 and was very happy with it. Two friends of mine had JRSC on there Si and Teg and got tired of always messing with the belts. Plus, SC or more for low end power, turbos are more for mid/high end power. Well since the greddy kit comes with a smaller turbo than most, it allows for quicker spool time, in turn giving you more power all the way thru the curve.

Belts, in my personal experience, have not been a problem. I am running Goodyear belts and have only had to adjust them one since October. The biggest drawback with the JRSC is the lack of an intercooler.

greddy kit all the way, my car is a daily driver and I love it. Blowers are more desirable on bigger motors especially ones that use v configurations. Also a turbo only creates boost once the turbo has had time to spool so you can easily avoid boost on a daily basis where as a supercharger has no lag and it always spinning and creating boost

What is this crap?

Not much more for you guys to examine out of that post. Not saying that blown 4 bangers can't be fast and that turbo'd v8's are slow. But its not common to see factory supercharged 4 cylinders or factory turbo'd v8's either.

Between those two choices, get the Greddy. JRSC is nice, but if you eventually want more power, it's more difficult with a supercharger. I have the Greddy kit for my Si, and it too has its limitations due to the CARB certification (ie. internal wastegate, no bov, etc.). Keep in mind that once you add a bov and intercooler (I have yet to confirm this), at least in California the kit will no longer be legal. I just passed inspection in my state, however. With this in mind, why don't you look around for a group buy on Revhard or Maxrev. I think Kyle had a GB going on a while back for the Maxrev kit AND Hondata for less than I paid for my Greddy kit. I wish that was available when I was in the market for a kit. Back when I bought my kit, everyone was really pushing DRAG. I don't know what inspections are like in RI, but where I live it depends who's inspecting your car. Most mechanics around here just make sure it passes emissions, is safe (ie. brakes, etc.) and probably wouldn't even know an external wastegate or bov is illegal. Although some would disagree with me, I think DRAG is complete crap - shitty manifold, deltagate wastegate, Turbonetics crap. Consider how fast you eventually want to be, that's the most important decision to make right now. Most of the guys here are pro-turbo, but who knows you might be perfectly satisfied with the JRSC.

I used the greddy kit on my GSR for over a year b4 i sold it to my buddy. Itz a great kit and has caused no problems for me or my buddy. In my car with stock internals and on slicks it put me at 12.3 at 13psi. Great stuff for something so simple. and yes that was using the blue box.

Re: greddy 18g kit vs jrsc (Gmedalion)
i'm thinking the same. Anyone know any turbo kits for a 2000gsr that would pass smog? Greddy kits are only for 94-99 not 00. And people with jrsc at 6psi, was it easy to pass with other stuff I/E/H?

greddy kit, it easy to install and if you want more power get a boost controller. I have the 18g kit, it handles well over 300hp at 15 psi easy. Just a little pricy. Nopi has the kit I believe. Thats where I got mine.
