Had my sohc boosted for over a year now, a couple of months ago I put to much oil in the engine and I noticed it started coming out of the oil cap when driven hard..

Anyway I took out the excess oil and it seemed to fix the problem.

The oil has started coming out again, I am trying to figure out the cause. The oil is overdue for a change, be doing that today. I also got a new oil cap but it seemed to leak worse with that, so I put back on the original cap. Anyone have any ideas on why this could be happening ? I am guessing perhaps the rings aren't holding the oil in? The car doesn't blow smoke, so I am wondering whats up, and how bad it is... Any help is appreciated.

When you say leak, how do you mean? Are you talking about the oilcap on the valvecover? It's usually pretty tough to make one of these leak, so it's possible your oil leak is coming from somewhere else on the valvecover (if that's where you mean). What's the location of the leak (and how much) would be helpful for us to help find your problem.

Sorry yes the oil cap on top of the valve cover, not much oil a few dribbles I pretty sure its coming from there, must be getting pressurised? Thanks

any oil coming out from the dipstick well ?

No oil is coming out of the dipstick well, I believe the oil only comes out at very high RPM from the valve cover cap.

Look into getting a better catchcan.

What makes you say that lazerus? I have the breather going to the catch can as well as having disconnected the inlet mani to sump tube the sumps inlet now go's up to the catch can. The catch can it self doesn't seem to breath very well. I have seen oil coming through the filter on the top perhaps its still getting pressurised?

If you pull the hose from the pcv valve to the intake manifold off, do you get a lot of white smoke? If not, you're probably okay...you might just need a new oil-cap. Maybe try checking the sealing surface of yours against the valvecover and make sure there's no garbage on the metal keeping the rubber on the cap from sealing.

It's excess crankcase pressure that 'blowing by' the rings...Your rings are probably shot mang...

There was a couple pieces of crap around the seal perhaps that was it I tried another cap, but that probably didn't fit right as I leaked worse..

Suprdave I guess thats the big fear its not smoking from the exhaust though.

I'll see what up as I have cleaned the oil off, so I know if it leaks further.

Anyone think the oil change might help?
