GOT my GE SLEEVED BLOCK. Worried while buildin'it...
I am a nut when it comes to engine building. I always double check and even triple check to be sure of what I am doing.
Several weeks ago I received my GE sleeved block. As careful as I was, I check what they did to my block. I must say it's a good sight to see. However, upon closer inspection, I noticed that there are a lot of excess liquid gasket that has dried. I now know how the block gets sleeved at GE. They don't remove the entire cylinder but instead cut it in half.
I e-mailed Vince about this and he said not touch it. Good thing I haven't done anything to it yet.
I had the block bored and hone at a reputable machine shop here.
Then the problem arose. When my block came back from the shop, the sealant fell. Well, not all of it. Seems that the liquid gasket was pinched and the excess between outer cylider wall and outer sleeve gave out. and to make it worse there were metal shavings all over the gasket.
I had to slowly cut the excess gasket and clean it thoroughly. I am worried about water seeping in to the sleeves?
What are the chances?
LESSON: I WILL NEVER LET ANYONE OTHER THAN GE DO MY BLOCK JOB.
VINCE, have you tried steel epoxy and copper grease? instead of liquid gasket and copper grease. I'm sure you have a reason for using the gasket.
I have no choice at this poit but to ask here. Do I need to send it back? Bar's leaks is on its way.

those are left over frfom the liquid gasket material they used...
you can cut it, if not they;re just gonna float around the water jacket, they're fine...
don;t worry about it....just clean the whole block with hot soapy water, THROUGHLY.... and air dry it...
you'll be fine
